Coyote Hunting

Recommended Posts

I just got access to 600 acres, and it's overrun with coyotes.  I'm new to hunting them, and I have a few questions for you experienced coyote hunters. So my understanding is, I can't hunt coyote with a center fire rifle during deer season? If not, can I use a shotgun? And if I can use a shotgun,  any recommendation on load? Thanks in advance.

I can't find anything on the state website about not being able to use centerfires during deer season.  Even if you couldn't use centerfires, many coyotes are sent to hell by the .22 magnum.  I don't know of anyone who has ever killed one with a shotgun -- it's hard to get that close -- but I guess it could happen.

Cheers,

Whisper

I have used 3” lead BB’s with full choke hunting coyotes but usually hunt with someone .  One of the persons usually have rifle. I was using Foxpro electronic call and Foxpro decoy.  The last one I killed was with shotgun at 30 yards. It was locked down on decoy until I dropped the hammer.  I hunt SE Missouri.
