Why is GLOCK discontinuing so many models?
In order to focus on the products that will drive future innovation and growth, we are making a strategic decision to reduce our current commercial portfolio. This streamlined approach allows us to concentrate on continuing to deliver the highest-quality and most relevant solutions for the market.

What does this mean for me as a customer?
You’ll still have access to the most popular GLOCK models you know and love—just with a more focused selection.

Will discontinued models still be supported?
Yes! Just like we do with previous generations. We will continue to service discontinued models.

Do these portfolio changes affect law enforcement agencies?

GLOCK remains fully committed to supporting the varying needs of our law enforcement partners. While IOP programs may be affected, GLOCK is prepared to work closely with LE partners to make sure officer and agency needs are met. For more questions, contact your LE District Manager.

I grabbed that goofball 49. I do like it. I carry one of two Shadow Systems primarily. I didn't know about the 49 until this story came up so I picked up the 49 in May at GlockStore Nashville. Walked in an it was on sale too. I like it. It will probably never resell for much since it is kinda weird but what ever. I did like cleaning it much better than my Shadow Systems.

Aren't they all the same?😁

Yep, just like a AR. If you’ve seen 1 you’ve seen them all😂

TGO David actually nailed me good on this once. I said something similar in another thread, and he replied "Yeah, sort of like Smith and Wesson revolvers." That hurt a little.🙄

Glock is trimming the fat in order to make room on the production floor for the Gen 6. Lots of speculation about what it will be. I think it will be a frame with undercuts and stippling along with the performance trigger as standard.

I like the plain ole Gen 2 the best, but that’s just me.Just a stock Glock, maybe some night sights.

I find discontinuing the 49 interesting, because A) it just came out, with little fanfare and B) to me it makes sense logistically to have the 17 and 19 size frames to be interchangeable from an economies of scale point of view. Buy a 47 and a 19, and you would be able to instantly have 45 and a 49 configurations as well
