they wrote in their magazine that the firearms freedom act has received a lot of publicity this year. then cited a california marijuana supreme court ruling in favor of the feds, and said that they will continue to focus on other kinds of legislation. then they said "an even more important point is that no one should try to take advantage of the montana or tennessee firearms freedom acts without consulting a competent attorney" and then "no one who puts himself in that situation should expect support from the nra"

I think it is Alaska and maybe one other state that their new law says the state AG will defend any citizen in federal case.

If you live in one of those states and are willing to take a chance I'd say go for it. As far as in TN and others, I would have a super 2A attorney lined up before I even thought about trying something.

Don't really blame the NRA for giving the warning and not expecting them to jump in and defend you.

Montana law requires the AG to defend any citizen (and the AG has said he will do so).

i dont understand how they can so vehemently defend the 2a but basicaly ignore the 10a

As a friend of mine once told me, "choose the hill you want to die on."

They do a pretty good job with the Second.

Because they are the National Rifle Association, not the National BoR Association.

I don't see them taking up for any other ammendment either, nor do I expect them too.

thanks for the post 3pugguy very good info!

You're mighty welcome and I hope you rethink your support of the NRA over this issue. We all get tweaked time to time by things our "organizations" do or don't do, but hopefully can look at the long term goals and keep plugging away.
