My husband's family lives outside of Buffalo, NY and my daughter and I are driving there for the holidays without my husband. He has to work so he is just flying up for a few days.

I can carry the entire way legally until I hit NY. Any ideas on the best way to store my gun once we hit the state line? We are trying to talk his family into moving to Florida once they retire because the laws and taxes are outrageous there! This trip has been making me nervous for months because I do not want to have to deal with some high strung NY cop that is not familiar with gun laws.

MOst states allow transport as long as it's locked in a factory or other lockable case, unloaded and out of reach. typically in trunk, console, behind seat, glove box, etc.. As long as it's locked up in a case and unloaded you should be ok.

It's always best to contact local LEO before travel tho.

If you do figure out how to take it up there remimber that on day 10 you have to register it. After that they can have you arrested for having an unregistered pistol.
