Damp Ammo?

Recommended Posts

Had a bit of a problem this week. Bathtub flooded into the next room where I had my ammo stacked on the floor. I got most of it out in time, but missed some boxes hidden in a corner. Found the rest tonight. They didn't get wet, but the boxes got slightly damp. I'd say they sat this way for 3 days. They were all packed in trays (styrofoam or plastic) inside the boxes. The were some of my better JHP ammo (of course). They never got wet, but I'd say the humidty factor was pretty high being inside those damp boxes. Think they're okay? Argh....:)

Agreed. I would shoot 'em up. They'll most likely run fine, but I would not want to bet my life on it. If I need something to go boom, I want the least amount of uncertainty possible.

Run them at the end of a range session. If the damp ones cycle well in a dirty weapon, it is a reasonable assumption your primary p.d. ammo (the dry stuff) will run well, too.

As for me, I only buy about 60-70 rounds of p.d. ammo for each flavor and replace them every six-twelve months. Don't carry much more than that and if I get down to my FHJs, over penetration is not a top priority. For me, that is.

Yeah, agreed. I'll shoot them up. No sense in gambling with this. Thanks All.
