911 What's your emergency? Some big guy looks like he's having a coronary or he's dancing all over his living room. So he's either dying or flipped his wig. Send help....fast!

Congratulations, chipperi!

Congratulations on the new job. By becoming a municipal employee you should have a pretty secure position along with a decent at least or good at best benefit package. There is also another factor that you may benefit from. In the future you'll be eligable for other City positions. We have two persons in our department that originally were 911 dispatchers. One is now an admin. asst. and the other is an engineering tech. and the both have over 15 years with the City.

Good Luck

In 2009 I was laid off for 24 weeks and the rest of the time I only averaged 8 to 20 hrs a week... Someone asked, the job was for the City of Bristol TN
I'm happy you got a job, but I feel for you. Seven years as a dispatcher and I was done. I was actually over done. Good luck.

CONGRATS Chipperi, Bristol is a decent sized city, you WILL be busy. But take to heart bukowski's post. I didnt spend 7 years doing it but it can be a very stressful position......But also very rewarding.....VERY.:)

I am currently one of the candidates for a 911 dispatcher job in Chattanooga for Hamilton County. I was interviewed last week. They said something about a one year probationary period and something about part time. Did yours say anything about that? I will find out before I take the job if they make the offer exactly what they were talking about.
