Allergy sufferers, unite! It's sad to say but, being home sick today...

It's say to say, but being home sick today has provided me with the most opportunities to surf TGO than I've had in the past three months. :D

Friday I started noticing that my eyes were watering and then I started sneezing a lot. Allergies. Great. By Saturday evening I was feeling really lousy but I went ahead and attended a wine tasting event with some friends here on TGO.

Yesterday, I was doing a little better - or so I thought. I was back in bed before 8pm and had the worst sinus headache I've had in recent memory. After that my nose ran like a faucet all night. Woke up this morning and could barely speak.

They say we've had so much rain and snow this winter that we're going to have one of the most vibrant, green Springs that we've had in Tennessee in recent memory. I concur. My allergies concur. :D

But on a positive note, I'm catching up on my forum-reading.

I've put in enough overtime hours last week to make up for my being absent today thankfully. :D

Surprisingly mine aren't bothering me. Thanks Claritin. :D

Of course the flip side of that is no excuse to call in. :D

I was taking Mucinex DM just to be able to breathe. Now I'm taking Zyrtec to keep it from drowning me. Maybe I need to pop some Claritin.

I KNEW something was up. From all your recent posts, I thought, "Didn't he get a busy job a few months back?"

What is "It's say to say"?

I get severe itchy eyes and have to use Bausch & Lomb's Opcon-A to prevent a pink-eye type condition cause I can't help but rub them so much. No more antibiotic drops for me, once I found that.

If you really want to take care of it get your doctor to prescribe you some Nasonex or Flownase. I've let my prescription lapse but the years I took Flownase it made seasonal changes pretty much a non-issue. I occasionally got a sinus related sore throat with it. I haven't taken it for about a year now and I've had a couple of sinus infections since, so I probably need to schedule a trip to the doc.

When I get like that, I hate that having beers makes it worse. But I try anyway!

the hops in the beer probably make your sinuses feel worse. Budwieser kicks my butt when I drink it, and IPA's are virtually undrinkable to me anymore because of the hop content.

Try Coor's light, it is mothers milk in a silver labeled bottle

Hope you get to feeling better David. Knew something was up when you posted your gun porn today...was thinking...isn't he supposed to be at work? +1 on the Flonase or Nasonex; if it is truely allergies not a sinus infection, they do actually work pretty well.

That sounds like a poor man's sinus cocktail!

Be careful, after buying all that, they have your id information, they will be tracking you for awhile to make sure you are not cooking meth! :D:P

Had sinus infection two weeks ago, still have some congestion in my throat, had the worst headaches ever with it this year.

Oh, me home sick includes my computer so I can work...:D

Usually my sick days are spent because of my kids.

Hope you get to feeling better.

That's what's great about Bausch & Lomb's Opcon-A with kids, if they can use it. You get to skip the time off for a doctor's appointment, the expense of a script. I always thought I had full-blown pink-eye and was going to the minor med for drops and drugs. I thought there had to be a better way with something OTC. Pharmacist found this for me. I can rub my eyes as much as I have to. Haven't seen a doctor for this for over 4 years, whereas I made 2 or 3 visits a year. Opcon-A is like $12 and I've used the same bottle for over a year. It'll work for kids with real pink-eye.

David, do yourself a favor and go to Vanderbilt ASAP (Asthma Sinus and Allergy Program). I suffered - and I do mean suffered? - for 14 years before finally going to ASAP. Within less than two weeks they had my symptoms under control and now, 5 years later, I don't take any kind of allergy medicine and I can breathe easy.

They did such a good job that during part of my treatment my insurance lapsed due to changing jobs, and I paid for my treatment out of pocket for several months. It was worth every penny.

And now that allergy drops are an option - not sure if ASAP does them, though - that just makes it all the more crazy to suffer with allergies. Seriously, going to ASAP was one of the few things that was quite literally life changing.

P.S. I do not work for, nor am I or have I ever been in any way associated with Vanderbilt. They just did awesome work, so they get my recommendation.

Until about 5 years ago I never had any allergy symptoms at all. 5 years ago I started having some problems and the last couple of years I have used Zyrtec. Mine start flaring up a few weeks before these dang Bradford Pear trees blossom so I started taking the meds about a month ago. I called my Dr and asked for a generic that my insurance would pay the bulk of. Instead of $30+ for Zyrtec a month I now only pay $4 a month. When I am jobless I have to cut every corner that I can.

This is working for me. I have just slight eye irritation that drops take care of.
