OK, sometimes you are just out of options.

I have a customer interested in a full size, hi cap (i.e. more than 8 rounds) .45acp pistol. Carry isn't an issue. Price isn't much of an issue.

He doesn't like the Smith M&P--looks.

Doesn't like the Springfield--grip safety.

Doesn't like the Paraordnance--some reason or other

Is leaning towards the H&K, which is about my last choice in a gun.

Already has a SIG P220.

I might try pitching the full sized Glock in .45 or even 10mm.

Any choices I am forgetting here?

Based on the criteria your customer has set out, it appears the HK USP is the gun. I had a P220 for years and loved it, but after getting the USP Tactical, I really didn't need the 220 any more.

The full size USP is available with a variety of options including ambi safety, sights, a choice of trigger configerations (I prefer Match with the adjustable trigger stop). The 12+1 capacity is a plus. The ambi mag release is a big plus for me, as I'm left handed. The guns are rugged and extremely accurate.

Buying a handgun based on its looks is like buying a car just because it looks cool. There are more important things, like handling, performance and reliability. Tell that to your 'friend'.

I am very interested to see this one come out... expecially if offered with their new 'constant action' trigger setup (slick-slide without decocker/safety, precocked hammer akin to the H&K LEM).

I'd give one of those a serious look, myself.

Any word on their release?

The PX4 sub compact is what i'm waiting for. With the smaller platform I don't think they have the rotating barrel, but the SC is "slated" to start showing up 08 Q1 in 9 and 40, and Q3 in 45. For Full size, Q3 for 45 is what I hear although it is on their website so I initially thought they were already out. [www.px4storm.com] Maybe Rabbi knows more?

Beretta delivery times are notoriously late though, and these times are already about 6 months late. I fear they've already lost the polymer and SC market  . The SC is showing up in mag reviews though, so that's a good sign.

lol, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to start anything. I was just saying that, in my opinion, I'd go with the G21 because I like it. I also like the USP .45 but personally the G21 shoots better, for me. That having been said, I'm a 220 guy and when I need high cap I pop in a 10 round extended mag!

The reason the G21 shoots better, is because the triggers on HK products leave alot to be desired.
