Refinished the Mosin

Recommended Posts

Just had to post a picture of my new to me 1925 Mosin after cleaning it up. I got a little too aggressive with the cleaning and left the finish feeling soft, so I decided what the heck and just stripped and refinished it. I uncovered several marks on the stock that I couldn't see before. I am still looking into what they mean. Also ordered a crate of Albanian light ball ammo from Sportsmans guide for $151.47 after a $10 coupon. Now I need to shoot.

I thought refinishing a Mosin included banging it on some rocks, maybe dragging it down the road tied by a rope to the back of your truck, then leaving it out in the rain for a few days just to add character. Maybe you got it right. They have plenty of character anyway.
