Music City Tactical Shooters Sept 4 Match

Recommended Posts

My son (12 yr old) and I ventured out to spectate last month. Work got in the way and prevented us from returning to participate. We've cleared the calendar for Saturday. Count the two of us in. Reshoot poor stages? Geez, I might need to tow the trailer to carry all the ammo we'll need...

Our goal is to become better shooters. Therefore, we're open to suggestions. Can't wait!

HOGNUT, et al: Can I use a IWB holster worn at 5 o'clock? I never carry OWB so I'd rather not practice that way.

IWB at the hip or just behind is fine. If you go to far back it will be very difficult for you to draw and keep your muzzle down range. Failure to do this would be a safety violation. IDPA was founded to more closely simulate self defense scenarios but it does have to bend a bit for safety considerations. A lot of people carry at the appendix or even a j-frame in a pocket, all perfectly acceptable in the real world just not at a match.

RWF, I can't believe YOU are calling someone a sandbagger. Aren't you the one that buys a new gun and switches division every time you get bumped up?

I think the expert thing is a mistake!

Had fun. I didn't shoot as well as I had hoped. Got sharpshooter in SSP and Marksman in SSR.

Had some ammunition trouble with the revolver. I was using some ammo I had taken with me to a class and it had gotten rained on and soaked through. What a surprise it was when I got to chamber #2 and got a click instead of a bang.

Maybe next time I can get into sharpshooter with the revolver.

As usual, I had a blast. And regardless of the score I was happy to be out on such a nice day shooting.
