Procedure for getting duplicate HCP

Took a trip to the store and reached for my wallet to pay and realized I left it at home, along with my DL and HCP. Bad situation as I was carrying the whole time. Unloaded and put my gun in the trunk until I got home.

Now I regret not getting that duplicate back when I renewed my HCP earlier this year to keep in my car. Can I just get a duplicate online or do I need to go a DL center and take a number and wait?

Good news: A duplicate will only set you back $5.

Bad news: You have to apply in person, use the same form (check a different box in the upper right hand corner), and wait the same amount of time as getting a new permit.

Good news: The current wait time for permits is only about 3 weeks.

Note that many have stated in the past that a duplicate ordered after the fact is given about same priority as a HCP renewal, which can take much longer than an initial HCP app.

I wish all classes would mention that it can be ordered at the time of application, i did not see the box, but would have checked it when I was there. State could make some additional money by mentioning it to the applicants also.
