That's a common problem with many 1911 style pistols. The original design was for ball ammo & a lot of clones do not cycle HP rounds very well or at all, while others never have a problem. There are some HP out there that will cycle better for some pistols because of the shape of the bullet. I always liked shooting Golden Sabers or Star Fires & never had any problems. I got lucky and had a 1911 that would shoot anything and never had any problems with any brand, but some 1911's won't shoot anything, but FMJ. Try some differnt brands and see if you find one that works for yours.

As far as mags. I used old factory Colt mags and Star 8 rnd mags and never had a problem with either. If you try different brands of HP and still don't find anything that feeds reliably, you may need to take it to a smith and have the ramp "tuned" a bit.

+1 on both previous posts.

Wilson 47D's work for me every time, also Tripps Reaserch are probably hareleded as the best 1911 mags, but pricey (worth it IMO). I would try different brands of ammo first. Spear, hornady XTP or FTX, as well as the forementioned golden sabers
