Taurus Raging Judge- 28 Gauge Pistol

Recommended Posts

Taurus should have checked here before they wasted time engineering this product. :D

On a more serious note….

2.1.8.2 Large caliber weapons. The second section of the definition states that any type of weapon by whatever name known which will, or which may be readily converted to, expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or other propellant, the barrel or barrels of which have a bore diameter of more than one-half inch in diameter is a destructive device. This portion of the definition specifically excludes a shotgun or shotgun shell which the Attorney General finds is generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes. ATF has issued rulings classifying specific shotguns as destructive devices because they have a bore of more than one half inch in diameter and were found to not be particularly suitable for sporting purposes.

Here’s a video of a discussion with the President of Taurus USA. There are two cylinder release latches; it takes two hands to release the cylinder. He says they will also have a rifle version of this.

Email from who?

This is the note that was included at the end of an email from Guns America

PS: Please note that we have taken down the Taurus 28 gauge revolver story. They removed the gun from the booth after a day and have decided not to make it.

Ok. Good enough. I was wondering how they were getting around the ATf on this but if they did I was sure going to buy one. I'd hate to see the person in charge of R&D on Monday. I'll bet there is some azz chewing happening then.

hada feeling this would happen. they should have just introduced it when they started selling it, not introduce it in advance. I wounder if they could possibly appeal this?

Someone posted on another forum this morning that the 28 gauge Judge may be back 'on':

http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/the-taurus-raging-judge-28-gauge-revolver/

The article is not 'new' but notice the editor's note at the top of the article is. The editor's note is as follows:

Editor Note: I got a tweet from Michael Bane that this gun is not being canceled by Taurus and that BATFE has approved it. I am putting this back up for now until things become clearer.
