If you close your eyes and point the gun at something when you open your eyes the sights should be aligned or very close to that. That's why I chose Glocks. It is easier to aim if you aren't looking for the sights.

That's one of the main reasons people don't get Glocks!:D

Maybe I should re-phrase what I said.

When choosing a sidearm you should choose something that lines up for you. That is way more important that what you read on the internet about this brand vs that brand. Most brands are reliable/all will eventually fail. You can learn to manipulate any safeties/doomaflatchies/etc but if it just doesn't line up well you will never shoot well with it.

That is why I chose Glocks. Sigs/HKs/1911/etc sit too high in my hand for some reason. I wind up looking through the top of the slide. I have to lower the front site to get it back in the notch. The Glocks just line up better for me.

i would agree you should be able to point with it i have a 686 that for some reason when i point it i almost dont even have to look down the sights to hit my target its the most fun and best shooting gun i have ever shot.

I would suggest going to a local gun show and handle both. Keeping in mind what you are wanting this gun for. Home defense or carry. Look at the saftey features that you may want. Revolvers don't have external safteies (some new ones do). If I was to choose a semi on the lower end of $400 I would look at something on a makarov design like a Bersa. On the revolver side I would look at Charter Arms. Both can be had for about $300.
