Fast Food - Ad vs. Reality

Recommended Posts

Interesting site that show pictures of fast food products comparing the advertised picture to the actual product received at the counter. One of the more interesting discoveries the site made is that the advertised burger wouldn't even fit in the box that it is served in, proving that the restaurants never expect the burger to be made like the picture.

I've always wanted to tell the person at the counter that I want a burger made that looks just like the one in the picture on the menu. And keep sending them back until I get one that looks right.

I don't eat fast food very often, but a few years ago I was stuck in Great Bridge, Va. for 9 weeks. There wasn't much to choose from locally and when I first got there I stopped in a McRonalds and ordered a Big Mac. To my surprise it looked just as ads portrayed it! Good size, burger and stuff, actually centered on the bun, and the bun was good and full. Not squished down and no finger impressions. Oh, and the service was very courteous and friendly.

It's the ONLY time in my years that's happened.

I got the store number and managers name, called corporate, and told them how pleased I was.

This subject is a hot topic for me. I eat fast food almost every day. And I very often DO tell the person taking my order that it had better look like the picture on the menu board.

Wendy's burgers have gotten a LOT better in the past few weeks. They now serve the dining room burgers in an open ended cardboard sleeve which prevents them from getting mashed like when they used to just wrap them in paper/foil wrappers.

I had one of those Whoppers a week ago at Burger King and it looked just like the "actual" one in the sample photos. It was mashed down and almost flat. It tasted horrible. I rarely eat at BK, and after that I am swearing them off again. They just suck.

I had one of those squashed Big Mac's a few days ago too, but it tasted really awesome, so I forgave them. Must have been the 'special sauce'. My Filet-O-Fish that day was the best one I had in months too.

Best McDonald's in and around Nashville area is in Carthage. Seriously. Awesome service, excellent quality. I've called corporate MANY, MANY times and told them so.

Worst McDonald's - Green Hills/Nashville. Corporate knows me by name over this one.
