Picked up two cap and ball revolvers

Recommended Posts

I had a brass frame Remington just like yours. Had a lot of fun with it. kinda nasty to shoot but it makes a great sound and was pretty accurate.

I think that C/B revolvers are under rated for hunting. They are very capable of bringing down large game to include bear! It all takes practice!

Hey...

Like a post before this one, load them light as the brass frames will stretch over time. If you are looking for leafther check out some Civil War Sutlers. You can get a decent military pattern, butt forward flap holster for about $25 and a pistol belt for about the same. They will also have pistol cartridge boxes so you can carry rolled rounds.

I am a Civil War reenactor, so I have a bit of experince with these things.

I currently shoot an 1851 Colt pattern reproduction in .44cal. (steel frame), 1863 Sharps carbine .54 cal,, 1861 Springfield & 1863 Springfield Rifles in .58cal. Currently serving on a 3" Ordance Rifle.Love burning black powder!

Moped...

Check out some gun shows. I stumbled on a 1853 Enfield 3 Band Rifle by Euro Arms for $250. It was great over all, just needed a good cleaning. Used it one season and then swapped it for the 1863 Sharps Carbine by Taylor Arms. If you really want one check out some reenacting sites or reenactments, you will be amazed at what you can find.

Not sure if I can recommend a store, but "Guns Of Yesteryear" in Tunnel Hill Ga. has some good stuff and decent prices. Also it is the only place I know to get black powder.
