I use one and they simply work. Takes the hard edge off of the recoil. However, do NOT use them in 12g AK's. It will break your top cover.

You can also get them from Blackjackbuffers.com as well. He makes them and is local in Portland (TN).

I had one in my AK74, that, plus a Wolff +15% recoil spring made the gun a real *****cat. I would put both in any AK I owned again, for sure. It doesn't really reduce recoil, but it prevents the jarring impact of the bolt-carrier on the frame... and the extra-power recoil spring helped smooth out the cycling, and made up for the reduced travel of the carrier because of the buffer, but increasing the forward momentum which stripped cartridges from the mag. An excellent combo. It felt like shooting a 9mm carbine.

Complete fluff. For every AK that has a recoil buffer there is several(maybe hundreds of) thousand that function fine without them. Does not alter felt recoil very much if at all. But hey, it's your money.

Blackjack buffers are the way to go. They are thin polyurethane and will not interfere with the cycling. Most of the time your carrier is not goin to even touch the rear trunion, but I still like having them in there.
