Rifle Recomendations

Recommended Posts

I want to buy a rifle but I'm not sure what to get. What I think I want is something that will shoot a handgun cartridge. I already stock a variety of handgun cartridges so I don't want to have to stock something else.

Initially, I don't want to get an "assault" type rifle. Maybe, future rifles will be. So, the little bit of research that I've done leads me to lever action. I have revolvers so I think a lever action that shoots .357 magnum or .44 magnum would be a place to start.

Anyone, have any recommendations?

Thanks :D

'92 Winchester, or Rossi clone, in .357 (or 44mag, 45LC, etc.)

Got one (in stainless) for my wife. Handles nicely, lightweight, shoots well for a lever action. 20 inch barrel, if I were to do it again I'd go 18, I think. They can be found at very reasonable prices at gunshows/pawnshops (last gunshow I attended I saw one under $300).

+1 to what Mark says. As far as I am concerned this thread has run its course.

You will not do better with a lever rifle than a '92 in .357

Without a doubt the Marlin 92 is a fine rifle but if you are going to look at it you should not miss taking a look at the Henry Big Boy which is available in .44 mag, .45 Long Colt and .357 as well. Here's a link
