Shelf life of defensive ammo

Every trip to the range, I shoot out the magazine or cylinder on whichever gun I'm carrying that day, then replace it with fresh for the carry home. So, my defense ammo rarely gets more than a few months old.

Agree wit 2HOW. I'm also shooting up a lot of old stuff and updating. Shot a box of 9mm Super Vel from the early 80's. They barely operated the slide. Of course they had less than prime storage conditions. Most of the time they were sitting in a hot Florida garage.

This post reminds me a lot of another i saw on another forum. One fella was carrying "old school" black talons *eek* and he was getting all sorts of hell for it. Seemingly only because it was "old." The stuff worked.

No idea how this guy changed out his carry ammo how often unless he had a crate of the stuff.

I wouldnt mind having a box just to say i have a box. I could stick it next to the box of Norinco steel core "Armor Piercing" rounds on my shelf. Interesting conversation pieces.

Rabbi, I think you missed it. OBTW my old ammo is the old 'BlackTalon" I bought up all they had when they switched to the "ranger" name and left the coating off the bullets. Probably the "rangers" are one of the best rounds for SD.
