Waiting on Permit...

Recommended Posts

I called the Dept. of Safety 2 weeks ago and they said my permit was approved and wait 7-14 days to get it in the mail. Anyone wait longer than that amount of time? It's been 14 business days for me. I'm debating whether to call them tommorow. It's killing me, but I know it will be so gratifying when I recieve it.

I think you should already have it, because once they said mine was issued and they said it got mailed as soon as it issued, I got it in 7 days. Where I live things get put in the wrong mail boxes all the time. One of your neighbors might have got it and just have not noticed it yet. It happened to me one time. I had an insurance claim check, that farm bureau said they mailed to me and I gave it plenty of time. After 30 days, they sent me another one. Then the lady across the street comes over and gives me an envelope and said I got this a while back and just kept forgetting to give it to you.  Wow, thanks neighbor.

I'd call. It's probably just sitting in a stack of papers on someone's desk. They could probably find in and process it in minutes.

Mine was taking weeks and I chanced to meet someone who worked in that office. I asked her to check it for me and my renewal arrived in less than a week.

I emailed Lisa Knight when I was waiting on mine, and she had told me it was approved and that it had been sent to the print farm. She told me to wait 10-14 business days. But 2 days later, it was in the mailbox. Of course that was in 2010, and the USPS isn't what it used to be, not that it was that great to begin with. We have mail swap day almost daily in my neighborhood, so I'd email or call Lisa to check the status, to whether it was just "approved" or sent to the print farm.

Rcu316 we should go shoot after we get our stuff

I know. I am so disappointed at this point that I am loosing interest. I have been on the phone with L1, place that did fingerprints and the state for hours the past month. It's like I was just pushed to the side and forgot about. My Son took the class and applied the same time I did, he has had his permit for 8 weeks now. Really depressing.

I just did this, thanks for the suggestion.

Ms. Knight responded to my email within 12 hours (which i cannot believe!), and said they outsource the printing of the permits to a company in Tennessee and then they are checked for accuracy again and are then mailed out after this step happens which can take up to 3 weeks depending on where you live. So hopefully it will be here sometime next week! I will update when I get it.

If they had told me 6 months instead of telling me 6 weeks I'd been ok with that. I just kind of expect people to do what they tell me they are going to do.

You do realize there are more people involved in the process than just the one person that told you 6 weeks, right? Sit back and wait like everyone else does.
