How fast are you

Recommended Posts

A couple of weeks ago, someone posted a message about running a drill and asked how fast people thought they could run the drill. I said I would post the scores from the match where we ran the drill for comparison. There was a paperwork delay, but here are the scores.

The drill as originally posted was 1 target directly in front of you at 3 yards, and one target to your right at 5 yards. Draw, fire five shots to T-1, reload and pivot, and fire five shots to T-2.

The drill we ran was very similar. The only difference was, T-2 wasn't at a full 90 degrees, because we were in an indoor range.

This was an IDPA match, so the scores are posted in IDPA format. (PD = Points down. 1 point down = .5 seconds added to your raw time)

Added note: i wasn't able to get the "spacing" to post correctly, so here's and explanation. the first number is the shooters raw time, the second number is "points down" and the third number is total time with points.

Robert 3.87 - 1 - 4.37

Bob 5.68 - 0 - 5.68

Eugene 6.43 - 0 - 6.43

Jerry 5.58 - 2 - 6.58

John 5.08 - 4 - 7.08

Goetz 6.79 - 1 - 7.29

Tad 7.43 - 0 - 7.43

Blake 7.15 - 1 - 7.65

Scott 8.07 - 0 - 8.07

Michael 8.15 - unk - 8.15

Tony 7.27 - 5 - 9.77

David 6.90 - 6 - 9.90

Robb 8.09 - 4 - 10.09

Margo 9.41 - 2 - 10.41

Sophia 10.16 - 1 - 10.66

Robi 10.64 - 1 - 11.14

Christopher 14.62 - 1 - 15.12

Michele 14.90 - 2 - 15.90

you know....when you get older, your reflexes slow down, your joints begin to ache..and you generally turn into a shadow of your former "glorious" self...

I realized this when I was in "gunslingers" gunshop the other day...

I was talking with another patron about holsters..He wanted one for carry, and the guy behind the counter said he'd do well to get a "s.o.b"..or small of back holster.

I tried one out, along with that young man..and I realized it hurt my elbow and wrist joint to use one...

I remarked that I needed a "cob" holster...a crack of butt" holster.

man..I can feel old man winter tapping me on the shoulder....

Well, if you would give up your other "hobby" they might not hurt so bad.

I do IDPA, USPSA and 3 gun. This Saturday I will be at the Maury County Gun Club for an IDPA shoot. The 29th I will be in Memphis for a 3 gun shoot.

Wish I had known that last night, because I would have picked your brain heavily. This is something I really want to get into.

My problem is that as I got older my shadow got so damned much bigger than my former glorious self.
