Distilling Rain Water

Recommended Posts

Seems like an option for rain-water purification.

I can see this as a viable alternative to filters, and possible a longer term solution.

Any ideas on the topic of distilling rain water for consumtion?

If I had the choice of a home made filter for long term water or distilled I would go with filtered.  There are some serious health risk concerns with drinking distilled water over the long term.  However for short term use it does have the added benefit of drawing some toxins out of the body.  rain water is one of the best starting sources for water and a simple charcoal and sand filter should be sufficient.

I'd filter it.  Honestly, it's not hard to make a filter for rain water.  Look it up on the internet.  All the things you need are easily available in abundance.  There are lots of plans on line.

I have a friend selling new 250 gl.  poly water tanks with a metel  frame  and a valve  at the bottom, they can stack.  They are white color however, would simply covering them with a tarp or shed roof work or do they need to be painted black?

I will ask since no one else seemed to jump.  Those 250gl tanks sound real nice.

Just wondering if you might have a picture of one or know the price.  I am not currently in the market for one, but if I was that sounds like what I would want.  I bet someone else here is in the market.
