Is their a club that I can join locally so I can buy from them? I tried to look some of the clubs they had posted and they seemed out dated. Any help would be greatly accepted Thanks. Andy

And if a TGO trip comes up I am in.

The club requirement is now easily fulfilled. If personally going to the store one can join the Garand Collectors Association ($25) on the spot when selecting your Garand. They also have a notary there for validating your application signature.

If going the mail order route I think a photocopy of your GCA membership card or other clubs suffices.

CMP has four requirements for purchase: age over 18, US citizenship, firearms related activity, and membership in a CMP affiliated organization. You can go to their website, http://www.thecmp.org to the eligibility requirements section to see what is acceptable as proof of each requirement.

Folks living in non-free states have more hurdles.

By the way the "Garand Collectors Association" provides an excellent quarterly magazine.

As a CMP Master Instructor, I can provide the instruction and signoff the proof of firearms related activity document if you require that.

And - - -  I do this for free!

Cool!

Also, I trust this still passes mustard, but I used my CCW permit as proof and it was accepted.

A TN HCP is sufficient for proof of marksmanship but I would still take up DMark's offer of instruction.  There is a lot of satisfaction in owning a Garand but learning to properly shoot the thing takes it to a whole new level.

Picking one out is the best part! :)

No doubt! I was fortunate to visit the South Store (Anniston, Al) well before the Newtown tragedy. The racks were full and me and even my wife was in Hog Heaven!

Leon had time to give me a personal tour of what all was available. Here is ole Leon helping some other customers ...

Here's my selection after some stock fitting and finishing ...early 1950s Springfield. Called a Service Grade Special i.e. original hardware with new CMP stock. The CMP received a batch of unstocked all correct metal parts rifles so I bit the bullet at $950 but thankfully my Financial Comptroller (the wifey) was there! :)
