But, do they work now?:D

But seriously.

A LEO buddy of mine out in Oklahoma has one. The last time i was out there i got to shoot it and its a pretty sweet deal. Kicks about like any other plastic .45 and the ergonomics are awesome. Sight recover is pretty quick too due to the relatively low muzzle flip.

I just wish they werent so damn ugly.

Don't know, OS. They have been available for a while now but for some reason S&W never got around to updating their page. They aren't exactly known for keeping their site current though.

Guess so.

If I were really lusting for a .45 carry, it sure looks like a likely model to try out, assuming one didn't want to go the 1911 route.

No, but my M&P .40 Compact is thicker than a 1911 and they say the .45 compact is even thicker.

“Compact†is kinda misleading. These are full size guns with a little cut off the ends. :D

I traded off my full size and then got a compact. But now I think I’m going to go back to the full size. It’s no harder to conceal and I get 15 rounds of .40 instead of 10.

Good points.

Thick is a real factor...has taken me a couple weeks to get used to XD SubCompact, about same thickness as the S&W. Feels natural on hip now, but for a while it "felt" like it showed. But it really doesn't, it's almost as concealable as my much thinner Kahr. Only diff is that the Kahr does give pocket option and the XD really doesn't.
