Anyone doing the Tough Mudder in May?

Recommended Posts

My friend wants me to run the tough mudder with him in May.  I would love to try for the obstacles, but since I only found out it was in May about two weeks ago, I don't know if I would be prepared for the 12 mile run in such a short time.  I have ran 2 warrior dashes but those are only 3 miles(the fartherest I've ever run).  I have a week or two to sign up before the $ goes up.  I did just run a mile with my dog. What do you think...is 8 weeks enough time to train?

8 weeks is long enough,  I did it last year. When I ran it I was up to running 7 miles about 3-4 times a week. I did not break any records but had no problem finishing it. We had a team of about 12 people, it makes it easier. There was a group that busted it and finished in great time but most of us took out time and enjoyed it. Drink plenty of water leading up to the event, I drank a gallon of water that morning. I was good untill the artic enema, after that my hips started to lock up. Thankfully it was about mile 9 so I did not have much left to run. I think we are going to do it again this year and I am in no shape to run it so I need to start training agian. Good luck

I did it last year and will be participating again this year. In my opinion your cardio doesn't have to be the best. Last year I only got up to running 4 miles at one time and had no problems from a cardio standpoint. The most we ran last year before coming to an obstacle was maybe 2 miles.
