45 GAP?...

Every time this comes up, I hear the same phrases repeated- "answer looking for a question", "solution looking for a problem", etc.  If you think about when these were created, you will realize these statements are not correct.  Neither the SF frame nor the G4 frame existed when the GAP was introduced, and there was a HUGE difference in the size of the grip between a G3 G21/30 and the GAP frames.  It was very much a real problem, and the GAP was a real solution.

Of course that was then, and this is now.  From today's perspective, it's really hard to justify the GAP with the G4 frames being so much closer in size.  In retrospect, I wonder if Glock wishes they had just reduced the size of the 45ACP frames earlier instead of creating a new cartridge.  I'm sure there was some ego involved in having a "Glock" cartridge, but I won't be surprised if the GAP pistols are dropped from the lineup.  I hope they make a G38 G4 before that happens, but I'd bet against it.

I have the G21 G4, and the G37 G4 pistols.  I do slightly prefer the grip on the G37, even though I have fairly big hands.  The difference is small, and I'd have a hard time suggesting that anyone should buy a GAP pistol now, particularly if they aren't reloaders.

Cheers,

Rusty
