  1. If one already has a permit, it will cost $200 to convert to lifetime. Renewal for 8 yrs is $50. So......near time of renewal essentially for an additional $150 it could be converted to a lifetime. Background check is done every 5 yrs automatically with the lifetime.
  2. Plate rack and dueling tree simple and durable
  3. FIRE! 5 Best Defensive Bullets for the .357 Magnum (msn.com)
  4. One of the reasons is reciprocity with other states. 13 states do not recognize the TN permit. Another reason is the TN ECP does a decent job in the applicable laws and emphasis on safety. One cannot carry a handgun in any Park in TN without a valid permit. Training does not have an endpoint.
  5. Or change my plans altogether. Or, at least carry a long gun.
  6. Chris Vittetoe....865-237-2547 Long-time smith. He has done a lot for me and my friends.
  7. Good job! Been there done that. Tom’s the real deal. Certainly not a show up and give-me course.
  8. I assume you are reloading? Message me your address and I’ll send you what I have.
  9. you've got extra grip panels.....easy to replace, give it a try.
  10. you can take sandpaper and lightly sand the grip to your comfort.
  11. Proficiency and having your firearm on you is really what matters. I have yet to find anyone willing to hold targets for me while I shoot my .22.
  12. As long as all involved are legally able to possess the firearm I see nothing illegal. Handguns need to be done as an in state transaction. Long guns can be done via USPS with reasonable cost as another option.
  13. If your TN permit is still 'in date' or lifetime, when you get a TN DL your permit will be valid, just ask for a new replacement. If expired, will have to repeat the class for the ECP.
  14. 1st quess firing pin channel gummed up causing it to stick....but dangerous situation. Get it checked by gunsmith.
  15. Safe bet is follow FBI. Last I heard was Gold Dot. I would also consider Critical defense, and HST with gun function a primary consideration.
  16. Defunct, I carry an 1.0 shield routinely. Desantis Peagasus IWB holster which is also tuckable. Usually at 4 position. But works for me AIWB as well. I sometimes carry the Canik SC both ways as well; it has an Sig X dot and use a C&G holster. The Canik is a little more bulky. Just remember, higher capacity comes with more weight.
  17. I find it alarming that armed teachers are a threat to the students.....but it is really the indoctrination that some teachers spew to the students where the most harm comes from.
  18. I agree with your first assessment. However ECP is no where near enough training to permit teacher/staff carry. It is a start but not for stand alone training.
  19. Note over 500 schools DO NOT have a SRO. Many schools are in rural areas and have delayed response times not to mention staff shortage. Response time is proportional to body count. TN has had armed teacher provision for the past 8 yrs in private schools, and over 30 states have it already. Point is, no student/ teacher mishaps have bee reported. All the uproar in opposition is the typical anti theatrics. Interesting to note that individual districts will bow to local politics and opt out of teacher carry completely.
  20. I read TFA's breakdown of the bill. I think very few teachers will spend their own dime and time to meet all of the qualifications. There will also be some 'anti' pressure and responsibility concerns. With that said, this bill also will change the private school requirements. It will be a wait and see situation but it is not as most of us would want it, nor as bad as those who oppose it think it is.
  21. I understand the shortcomings of the serpa, But I think the situation of the OP is an exception to its use. If doing tractor work etc, that’s what I use. It is not a training holster nor for SD routine. OK , blast/ roast away.
  22. TN is not inventing anything new here. Private schools have had the option to permit carry for several years. State universities have allowed it as well for all employees. 33 states allow teachers to carry. I understand all the concern, and teacher carry is not the only answer. Hardened facilities will help. But I would rather have a teacher that is willing to carry and of course that participates in routine training in place than not. It is well documented that response time is proportional to body count. We are our own 1st responder, not surprisingly, no blood in the hallways in the above examples. Just like the concern over the guns in trunk bill, or guns in bar bills.
  23. Gov doesn’t have to sign it. Unless he vetos, it becomes law in 10 days without signature.
  24. I keep a small ammo can of loaded AR mags loaded for emergencies. Nothing is slower and bad practice as trying to load mags when you need to be shooting. Also I keep them downloaded in case of a needed speed or tac reload. Fully loaded mags can be difficult if not impossible to insert with a closed bolt.
  25. I’ve used thousands and have 12K waiting to go to work
