  1. I would recommend you stick to the 12ga for your clay shooting. Trap and & SC are 12ga games. Ammo is cheaper and more readily available. 30" bbls good choice unless you are a larger person...then maybe the 32". Heavier gun= less recoil. 12 also has more flexibility with loads to lessen your recoil as well.
  2. I do have the special expander, not an expensive item, that does it all in one station. Most advocate seat and crimp as separate steps for best results as well.
  3. The LNL has 5 stations, big advantage for a lock out die as well as separate seat and crimp process. Autu index works just fine, as a progressive press should. They all have idiosyncrasies, but in my opinion, superior to the 550. Compare apples to apples look at the 650.
  4. I have the Hornady LNL as does one of my fellow shooters. We each have loaded thousands of rounds over the past 7 or so years. No big issues and Hornady has been right there for help if needed.
  5. You should politely tell Whole Paycheck that as long as they are posted you will take your business elsewhere.
  6. other prohibitive elements to carrying a firearm in TN (f) (1) A person commits an offense who possesses a firearm, as defined in § 39-11-106(a), and: (A) Has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 921, and is still subject to the disabilities of such a conviction; (B) Is, at the time of the possession, subject to an order of protection that fully complies with 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(8); or (C) Is prohibited from possessing a firearm under any other state or federal law. (h) (1) A person commits an offense who carries, with the intent to go armed, a firearm and: (A) Has been convicted of stalking as prohibited by § 39-17-315; (B) Has been convicted of the offense of driving under the influence of an intoxicant in this or any other state two (2) or more times within the prior ten (10) years or one (1) time within the prior five (5) years; (C) Has been adjudicated as a mental defective, judicially committed to or hospitalized in a mental institution pursuant to title 33, or had a court appoint a conservator for the person by reason of a mental defect; or (D) Is otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm by 18 U.S.C. 922(g) as it existed on January 1, 2021. (2) An offense under subdivision (h)(1) is a Class B misdemeanor. Additionally, without a permit one cannot carry in county, city, state, or national parks. Federal law prohibits possession of a firearm in a school zone without a permit. Also IMO open carry is a bad idea in general and should be avoided -- Legally posted property applies to all civilians as a general rule, with or without a permit.
  7. 686 Beretta listed in classifieds
  8. Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-1315 Federal buildings will be off limits Judicial proceedings
  9. Go up to Iron Mtn. sporting clays at the 407 exit. Hang out there and chat up with the shooters...IMO avoid the 101 and Red Label. I have had both and the recoil is heavier. The x25 series guns from Browning will serve fine. The Berettas mentioned will also. Skeet and trap are not as popular as they once were, but both are fun. Sporting clays is the main attraction now and it is basically a 12ga game, as is trap. The 12 can be 'loaded lite' and be just fine for shooters of all ages. Fit is important, but don't worry too much about it. The human body is very adaptable as long as one is comfortable in handling the gun, especially with the LOP (length of pull)
  10. As a general rule, stay away from high velocity 00 buck and try to find 8 pellet loads.
  11. I would recommend the Hornady LNL. It is a reasonably priced progressive but you can load one round at a time until you are comfortable about moving on. Plenty of room to separate your bullet seating and finish with a Lee Factory Crimp Die. I prefer coated bullets from DG bullets. If you decide to go that route, a little face time help should be easy.
  12. dependable powder measure, lock-out die, good light for visual check insures quality powder loads.....a must IMO
  13. TFA, I will take your response as truth....you may do the same with mine. My statement was neither for or against any proposed legislation; it was simply an observation about people and firearms training.
  14. More training is a positive..but in my experience people in general don't even want to get the minimal training of a CCP, much less the ECP given the permitless carry situation. Basically, not going to happen and generally hasn't been the case anyway.
  15. Generally you won’t. But you will keep buying others until you get a DW.
  16. just pick you up a Dan Wesson 45.....you can spend more, but hard to find better.
  17. you will probably have to contact Nashville. That conf. number follows you through the entire process, and only one is given to each applicant.
  18. good video out on reg primer vs magnum......basically no significant differences. Included rifle primers too.
  19. should be shooting a 'dot' problem solved If shooting combat, not going to be making that fine sight alignment at social distances, so really a mute point. Otherwise, the manufacturers can please some of the people some of the time.....
  20. I have been in medicine 50 yrs. I am pro choice, but support the vaccine. Robert Malone, the father of mRNA vaccines summed it up best. We don’t know all we need to know about the vaccine to use it in children. Consult your family physician and make your best informed decision. I personally decided to take my chances with the vaccine vs. the Covid. It is a non-discriminatory disease that if survived can have life-long life-changing ramifications.
