Might try Fox and Co. He carries a lot of ammo most others dont. I buy my 9x18 at the gun shows or order it online. Can usually get Brown or Silver Bear for $10-13 a box.

I promised the folks at Classic Arms...
pcrc11 replied to BigK's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Placed an order with them last month for Tula Hex Mosin. After about a week they called and said they were out, asked to change it to any Izzy Hex, they were out, ok, change it to a Tula round, out of those too. I asked what do you have, they said just round Izzy's. Well dont really want one of those so I cancelled the order all together. Got lucky because next day Aim had some Hexes available and got one from them. Was not really upset with Classic as I understand they run out and they did call me within a few days of me placing the order. Just wish they would have done better job keeping up with website so they would avoid these issues altogether. -
Your were smart to buy the springs. Could barely pull trigger with mine in DA. After spring switch DA pull is very managable.
-
Sounds like a great place to unload a trunkload full of stolen firearms.

Aim has good stuff. Other benefit is you can buy off individuals from other forums. Gunboards IMO seems to be the standard that most individuals sell their guns on. I personally check site 2-3 times a day. Buying from dealers pretty much limits you to current imports which does not seem to be much any more. Buying from individuals who bought "back in the day" opens up a whole lot more oportunities to buy interesting stuff. Just gotta be quick as the good deals get snapped up very quickly.

I use Fox. Ask for Emory. Sometimes he takes a little while as he is usually backed up quite a while with work.
-
Push the retainer in and very carefully walk them off with a flat screwdriver between the stock edge and the band. You can try to spread them apart at the bottom with another small screw driver to create a little more wiggle room. would probably also wait for a day when the humidity is low as the wood may shrink a little when humidity is low.

What did it sell for.
-
Any reports? If it is like a typical Powell Auction guns will usually be well used and sell for way more than they are worth.

Dont confuse the bench rest RSO's with the Shotgun Range RSO's. Two totally different entities. My guess is it was the other shooters that may have been impatient with you, not the RSO who "VOLUNTEERS" his time so people like you can have a safe place to shoot and learn how the shotgun venues are shot. There is not one single shotgun RSO out there that will not spend time with you and teach you how to shoot to the best of his ability.
-
As to brass. It is my undrstanding that it is recycled and money is used to buy new materials for target backdrops. Dont know how the RSO obtained entry into the brass containers as they have been padlocked far as long as I have been going out there.
-
"Almost all of them are done that been there done that type of guys"? I am not defending them (RSO's), but that sounds no different than any place a bunch of gun people congregate, rather it be a gun show, gun range or even a gun forum.

So what did you get. Did they have any Service Grades in stock?

Just got one in from AIM today 102.95 shipped with the hand pick option. All matching 1932 Izzy. In beautiful shape. Dripping wet with cosmo. Had to catch them at the right time. Checked website early last week and they were sold out. Checked again on Sunday and it said in stock, ordered one. Checked back Monday and they were sold out again. Got lucky. This makes my 6th so far. 2- 91/30, 1 M44 Russian, 1 M44 Hungarian, 1 M44 Polish and 1 T-53. Am wanting a M39 next. Will probably pick one up from Pat Burns when the right one catches my eye and I have the money, usually the two never occur at the same time unfortunately.
-
How come they wont let you do a local pickup? They have some 1920's Mosins on gunbroker. Asked them if they will allow pickup and reply was no. Bad enough have to pay sales tax, but add shipping and it is just too much to pay for a Mosin.

I think somebody forgot to tell the sellers it was a buyers market. I overheard quite a few conversations this morning between different dealers complaining that nobody was buying. They had plenty of time to comiserate among themselves as there was hardly anybody there this morning anyway. Did not see any "buyers market" pricing. I mostly look at the Milsurp stuff and hunting rifles and it was the same worn out junk that is usually there, overpriced by at least half. Perhaps a few more of these dismal outing and the dealers will wise up and start selling the stuff for what is really worth.

I just ordered my first Garand last month and am patiently waiting for it. Should have it by end of this month. Ordered a Service Grade Springfield. Since ordering I have discovered the forum section on the CMP site. They have a section dedicated to the Anniston Store. You might want to read it before you go there. It seems there are weekly posts regarding what was in the store that week. Apparently back orders for Service Grades are so many they have not been putting out any in the store for quite a while. Plenty of worn out field grades and top of the line collector pieces though. Just saying you might want to check before you make trip there and are disappointed if they dont have any for sale. I am wanting to make trip one day but will definately do my homework before I invest in day trip with expenses. Check out the CMP forums, they will educate you very quickly on buying a Garand

Dont fool yourself. Having a C&R will only cost you money. Lots of it.
-
My theory is the ammo you are buying today was made with last years components when copper and lead raw materials were cheaper. Raw materials have increased right along with oil. Wait till six months to a year from now and see what ammo cost being made with todays raw materials cost.

Story my T53 tells is "ridden hard and put away wet". Missing extractor, muzzle wear that will swallow a bullet, stock looks like it was made out of driftwood and receiver and barrel completely "patina'd" for lack of a better word. I wont shoot it but it does fill a hole in my M44 collection until a better one comes along.
-
Wanting to look at the nicer Norinco but cant seem to find the time with work. Besides have to sell a Mossberg 500 first. Just ordered my CMP Garand and a Hungarian M44 so the gun fund is empty till that one sells. Had an all matching Norinco that I traded away and am now wishing I didnt. 99.00 is a good price for that T-53. You can always replace it with a better one when it comes along. Thats what I am doing with my trashed out T53.

When you mount the press to the bench use longer bolts that will protrude through the bench enough to mount to a pedastal that you extend all the way down to the floor. Make the pedestal out of 4x4 with a small base maybe 6"x6" square to set on the floor and a pad on top that your mounting bolts can attach to. That way all the force of actuating the press is transfered directly to the floor and bench really only is providing lateral support of which not much is required.

Not big enough. Reolading bench is kind of like a garage. No matter how much room you think is enough, is soon wont be. It looks like to have plenty of room to expand. Try to find someone who is remodeling a kitchen. Thats what I did and got a bunch of base and wall cabinets to build mine out of. Had them filled before I reloaded my first cartridge.

Reloading bench in the house or in the garage?
pcrc11 replied to Dad03's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Built me my own reloading room in the basement. WITH A DOOR.
