  1. Just bought a Contender from GB. I watched it go through 3 seperate auctions without a bid. I did not bid during those auctions because I had bids on other guns at the time. Those never materialized so after forth go round I finally bid on the Contender. Wouldn't you know it this time someone else wanted it. Got in a small bidding war which I never do but I really wanted it. Ended up winning it but price went up 50.00 from where it sat unbidded on all those other times. Figured it was probaly the seller bidding against me driving price up a few bucks. Still did very good though. First Generation Contender in 223 Super 14" in SS, Pachmyer grips and LER scope for 430.00.
  2. Cant say about the FFL. Must not need it to sell reloading stuff because he has quite a bit of it. Prices were pretty good too.
  3. Fox and Co carries a pretty good supply of reloading components
  4. Ordered a sporter stock for a Mauser. No problems. Will probaly order a handgun from them in the future. They have some really good prices on LEO trades.
  5. The Finns captured the Russian rifles and rebuilt them to their specs. Far and above a regular Mosin Nagant.
  6. About 265.00 with handpick, shipping and credit card surcharge
  7. 1905 Izhevsk
  8. My M39 came in yesterday from SOG. Ended up with a 1942 VKT. I paid for the hand picked option and asked for excellent bore and stock. Bore cleaned up to a mirror shine. Stock is pretty nice, does have a toe repair and some dings, other than that I am pretty happy with it. Bluing is about 50%. The receiver, bolt and floorplate are all matching numbered, am very happy with that. Spent most of the morning with rifle disassembled and soaking in cleaner. Not much cosmo but a ton of dirt and sand. All cleaned and put back together and ready for range.
  9. Did it come with the sling?
  10. Thanks to DOU and Garafu I finally could not resist any longer and ordered an M39 from SOG after reading their good reports. Did the handpick option asking for excellent bore and wood. We will see what comes. This will be first rifle order with SOG and am kinda leary but am hoping with the handpick it will be nice. Have been watching them on Pat Burns website for the last year. Liked the idea of being able to order the specific rifle you want but there prices have gone up too much in the last year. Figured if I wanted one 239.00 from SOG would be as cheap as they will ever be from now on.
  11. She will figure out what you are up to when you need to get a bigger safe.
  12. Cant go wrong with AIM surplus for a 91/30. I personally like the Hex models preferably Tula if I want a 91/30. Dont ask me why, I just do. Of all 8 of my Mosins I like my M38 (same as an M44 only without a bayonet) to shoot the best. Dont ask me why, I just do. Am really wanting to get an M39 next.
  13. Am pretty sure the 83 is not C&R eligible like the 82. To me that is what makes the 82 more appealing is the fact I can buy it direct and not have to pay markup or FFL transfer.
  14. What I really want to know is when are the Red Jacket t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, action figures, belt buckles, decals, and just about anything else you can put your name on is going to be available. Then they can ruin the gun hobby just like Jesse James and Orange County Choppers ruined the chopper industry and the France family ruined NASCAR.
  15. Although there seems to be a glut of them to hit the market in the past month, T-53s are much rarer than the M44's, although not impossible. Also the T53 are usually beat up and mismatched numbered. If you find a nice one that is matching numbered you truly have a unique piece.
  16. Seems to be hit or miss with Omega, probaly more miss than hit. Although nobody seems to mind at 65.00. Aim put them up for sale last week as well. If they still have any I would go with them before SOG or Classic
  17. Just be careful about the lower you use when it comes to resale value. I used a Surplus Arms and Ammo when I built mine. I had a hard time selling my AR because everybody wants a name brand lower. Dont seem to care to much what other parts are on the gun. Next one I build I will spend a few extra bucks and get a better known lower
  18. So are vendors allowed to have loaded firearms on them? Why would that be allowed? I dont trust alot of the vendors at the show any more than I would trust the people off the street when it comes to safe gun handling
  19. Looking for a recipe for 357 sig using 115gr round nose FMJ. Looked at Hodgdon website and they have a listing for a 115gr Hornaday XTP bullet. Is it basically only the weight of the bullet that creates the pressure. They show a starting load with 6.5gr of Universal that only makes 31,600 psi with the XTP. Think if I started with that load in the FMJ it would work in my Glock 33 alright.
  20. Surplus Arms and Ammo lower around 100.00 with shipping and transfer. Complete upper 279.00, stock 50.00, parts kit 50.00 all from coffin arms, should keep you under 500.00.
  21. What difference does it make when no matter what show you go it has the same dealers with the same overpriced junk they had at the last show. If you are going to go to a gun show to find a good or even a fair deal on a firearm, chances are you are going home dissapointed. Only reason I go to shows anymore is to buy reloading stuff or small items I dont want to pay shipping on.
  22. Wasnt there a bunch of stuff stolen at last gun show at Chilhowee also. Heard through the grapevine the was a team of two that had got away with a few handguns.
  23. Bought them from Georgia Arms. I just measured one of the extra bullets I have and it measures .454 according to my digital caliper.
  24. I have only been reloading for a couple of years and am going to use this as a learning expirience, I now know of one more thing to look at when reloading. I just dont understand why my test loads worked and now these dont. Is there anything I can do now to salvage them. I was wondering if I can run them through a sizing die, if that would knock the bulge down, or am I completely off base with that thought.
  25. Am using lee dies and press. The bullet has on OAL of .670 and it is going into case about .343. There is a line on the bullet where the Round nose starts and that is where I am seating it to. The cartridge OAL is 1.22. The diamater of the case below the bullet is .470 and it bulges to .474 where the base of the bullet is. It then shrinks back down just a little. Enough where you can feel it and see it. I took a felt pen and marked it and when it is pushed into the chamber it rubs the ink off the bulge. I took a jacketed bullet i reloaded and it falls right into the chamber with no problem.
