  1. I loaded 20 test bullets with .452 230 gr lead bullets, 4.1 titegroup and they seemed to work just fine in my Springfield 1911. I went ahead and loaded a couple of hundred more and now they wont go into the chamber. The base of the bullet has bulged the case just enough where the bullet wont go into the chamber the last 1/8" without pushing it in. Is there any I can fix these or am I going to have to shelve them until I come across a 45 with a worn out chamber.
  2. Bought one for my wife and had nothing but problems as I had been warned. Did not want to believe it being it is made by Beretta. Ended up trading it for an SKS and was happy to get out of it for that. Go with a Buckmark if you dont want another Ruger
  3. Shot it today. 27 mag worked just fine. Am going to have to work out some light loads. Not sure if it was the cold weather or what, but it sure does sting.
  4. I picked one up at a gunshow about 2 years ago for under 300 otd. Stainless model with the 22 mag cyl as well. I traded it off figuring I would have no problem getting another one in that price range. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made. Did the same thing with stainless Security Six. From now on any Ruger Revolvers I get will never leave my possesion.
  5. That is what I was figuring. Was going to try it tommorow (if not too cold and windy) and just wanted to be sure. Thanks
  6. Just picked up a Glock 33 (subcompact 357sig). I have a 27 magazine in my junk drawer. I assume the frames are the same on the 27 and 33. Does anybody know if the mags interchange. I see Glock list them as seperate but I was thinking the 27 mag should work in the 33 but perhaps not the other way around.
  7. Just clean it well. Especially the throat where the rim of the bullet lays into. Lots of time cosmo can build up in there and make it seem like bolt wont close. You have my email, just let me know when you are ready.
  8. I have a field guage and am in Knoxville also. Email me at jtpm44@yahoo.com and we can make arrangments to meet up. Unless you have changed the bolt head I would not expect you to have a problem.
  9. Also recommend 0000 steel wool and rem oil. Cleaned up rust specks on a Krag Sporter I have to just like new.
  10. Emory at Fox and Company. He is very knowledgable on the older stuff.
  11. Nothing special about 1938. Although some may get on you for doing any kind of modification to an original military rifle. Personally I wont sporterize or modify a complete matching numbered rifle. I dont have any problem if you want to do it. In all reality that rifle is worth 100.00 now original or nicely sporterized. It will probably never be worth enough that you will regret modifying it.
  12. I want my guns auctioned by Powell when I am gone. I dont know how they do it, but they have some strange power over people to get them to pay way more than they are worth.
  13. Saw a poster for show. I believe it was $8. Seems kinda high to me.
  14. I figure about half of the vendors have no intention of selling any of the guns they bring. Have been attending the shows for the past 3-4 years and I swear I see the same stuff over and over with the same crazy prices. I think they just like to display their gun collections and by putting over inflated prices on them it makes them think they have real valuable collections.
  15. And if they do it will just prolong the wait.
  16. Not sure about your first question but me personally I would order another form. Would not want to give them any excuses for not getting to your application in a timely manner. As to the second question I would fill out the form EXACTLY as it states. Again, dont give them any reason to question or hold up your application from being processed.
  17. Thats because all the flea market type vendors were at the RK show in Knoxville this weekend. Absolutely worse I have ever seen.
  18. Anywhere between now and 6 months. Although when I got mine it was about 45 days.
  19. Get a bigger safe and start saving your money. Two excellent website forums are Gunboards.com and surplusrifleforum.com. You can spend hours and hours on them learning all you will need to know about C&R guns, the use of the license and companies to send it in to.
  20. PM sent with possible contact info.
  21. Not sure if it is "too old" or far back for you, but we had a group of Revolutionary War reenactors at the Jon Sevier Range in Knoxville a few weeks back for a youth event day. Guy in charge said they had a bunch of members in the area and they did a bunch of events all over the south. They were all decked out in the uniforms and did some live firing demonstrations. Was pretty neat to watch.
  22. Biggest problem you will have is being able to afford and store all the new firearms that will all of a sudden be available for you to buy. Have had mine going on 2 years now and have purchased at least 20 guns with it from wholesalers, Gunbroker and individuals from other surplus rifle forums. Before the only place I could buy guns was at shows or from local stores. No longer will you be held hostage by their high prices. Being able to buy guns online and have them shipped directly to you opens up a ton of great deals.
  23. Could not believe the line to get in yesterday. Saw to good deals. Older 12ga 870 with 2 barrels for 269.00 otd in really nice shape. That was grabbed up while I was standing there. And a 1898 Springfield 30/40 Krag all original for 450.00. Heck I saw 2 different sporterized ones that were beat to hell for more than that there.
  24. Aim posted today they have Hex Mosins. Ordered one for myself. I also ordered one last month when they posted them for sale. If you want one you better be quick. Last month they sold out in about 2 days.
  25. They are an old gun and boating shop located off Old Broadway on Dutch Valley in Fountain City, visible off of 640. They dont sell guns anymore but they still sell ammo, reloading supplies and have one of the better gunsmiths in the area. Like I said they are an old store and therefore have lots of neat and hard to find items that have probably been in the store for the last 50 years. I dont think owner even knows everything he has squirreled away.
