  1. I was hoping you guys can help me turn my new Springfield into a true race gun (not that i'm competing anytime soon).  I was wanting ideas for the following: better trigger (no slop, lighter pull)? I know apex makes M&P triggers but who makes new springs and kits for the XDM 5.25? reflex sight: how do I add a Burris fast fire or other reflex, should i get the slide cut or add an adapter?  What is the better optic (should i pay more for a trijicon)? holster that can fit the reflex sight? holster for extra mags? What is everyone using? mag well & new base pads: what is the more used and reliable brand? Thanks guys, i figured now would be a good time to invest into a handgun like this.  Let me know if i am forgetting something.   John Platt
  2. As for pinning or unpinning you do need a gunsmith with the right tools. Don't do it yourself and screw up your barrel or you'll have a heck of a time finding a barrel any time soon. If you can't find a gunsmith that can permanently pin a muzzle device then ship it off to Adco.
  3. With the battle comp the logo or the side without the holes needs to be pointed down. Indexing basically means tightening till the brake gets aligned perfectly. Some brakes and flash hides don't get aligned as they continue the design and ports throughout the brakes where the battle comp places no ports on the bottom claiming this helps with muzzle rise since all the gas goes up or left or right pushing the muzzle back in place after shooting
  4. i used to wear bates gx-8s, but now since my department occasionally buys us shoes i'll get what they offer (5.11 ATAC Storms) but they don't last as long or feel as comfortable.
  5. I was going to get a M&P for my next handgun, however a local gun guru talked me into ordering the Springfield XDM 5.25 Comp in 9mm and i'll tell you what i think when it comes in, but it looks sexy for a XD.
  6. Used Eotech's can be found for pretty cheap, especially the 512 model.  I know a benefactor here on TGO that mentioned he was selling some EOTechs so pm me for his information if you go that way.  I like "red dots" such as aimpoints though due to the battery life. I didn't want to open up my rifle bag and find my optic dead because i left it on, and i surely don't want to try and replace the battery on scene.  The PRO has a 3 year battery life if left on and the t-1 will last 5 years if left on continuously.    The PRO is a little big for some, but it has a built-in mount that "cowitnesses" or aligns perfectly to your iron sights.  The T-1 also has a built-in mount and is super small.  I started with the PRO model and later upgraded to a T-1, but most people will be happy with the PRO.  LEO Pricing on the t-1 is $530 otherwise its $650, and the PRO sells for $350 LEO or $400 normal pricing.
  7. i don't know why everyone is getting into the mag craziness, but I stock 3 per pistol and 5 per rifle except bolt actions that get three.  With that said, i pre-ordered 10 gen 3 pmags in hopes that I will get another rifle soon (LMT LM8MRP) if kieslers would get it in stock.
  8. The UMC 223 55gr are now $24.99 for 50 which isn't too bad.
  9. after seeing your post i just picked up 6 boxes. I have some training to do once GunRunner finishes my upper/lower.
  10. my local walmart has a crap load of 7.62x39. which one... well i'll let you figure that out. I just bought all the 223 which was six boxes. If the 7.62x39 is still there i might buy some so i can trade for 22lr.
  11. I would go with number 3 but let someone do it for you.  Send it to ADCO or get MiddleTNGunsmithing to do it.  Prices are around $40 plus shipping. I would then go with a long Troy Alpha rail (13") since i like their look and they are light.   However, I would go with Troy Backup Iron Sights.  Don't get the micro ones though, get the full size flip-ups.  That's what i got with a HK Front sight.
  12. that would be awesome.  The deals lot is pretty big so I hope they allow us to shoot rifle and handgun inside.  Like you guys said though i'd be happy with any range in city limits.
  13. yeah it looks the same, just rebranded.
  14. Clearing a house with a shotgun or rifle is hard since you can bring it in close to you when you take corners.  I would look at a 9mm handgun for self-defense inside a house.  Your 226 is perfect since it is a full size pistol that can be converted to 9mm (if its not already) .40 caliber is pretty easy to shoot as long as you don't mind the extra recoil.   Just put a streamlight tlr-1s on it and it will be the best to clear a house.   If you really want a rifle, I'd invest in one that shoots .45 caliber rounds such as the Kriss Vector or get an ar platform in 300BLKOUT.
  15. most of my lady friends carry a walther p22 in pink fashion (one even has a digital camo pink).   I of course had to shoot it, and hopefully those pictures will delete themself from my facebook, and they are nice and shoot straight.  The only downside was the size and loudness, and most of them place it inside their purse rather than on their person.
  16. Love it! I have ordered from them before too, i got a patrol vest sling which was sturdy and well made.
  17. Thanks, I let three lowers slip by my hands the week before thinking no one would buy them in a day while I made up my mind. Its looking like it will be an Omega just because those things are built like a tank (while being light). Final build which will be finished in Mid-January:   Rock River Arms A4 Upper ·         Daniel Defense  Quad Rail ·         Yankee Hill Machine Mid-length Barrel ·         Aimpoint Micro T-1 ·         Troy HK StyleFlip-up Backup Iron Sights ·         Spikes Tactical T-2 Buffer ·         Yankee Hill Machine Low Profile Gas Block ·         DPMS Gas Tube and Roll Pin ·         BCM Full-Auto BCG ·         BCMGUNFIGHTER Charging Handle w/ Mod 3 Latch ·         BattleComp 1.0 ·         Thorntail Adaptive Light Mount ·         Surefire Fury Tactical (with EAG Push Button) OR the Inforce HSP-WML (if i want momentary only, which for now I don't) Stag Lower ·         DPMS Lower Parts Kit ·         Magpul STR ·         Staked Mil-spec Tube ·         Magpul Bad Lever ·         Magpul Aluminum Enhanced Trigger Guard ·         ErgoGrip Other ·         Blackhawk 38” case ·         4 Magpul Pmags with Ranger Plates ·         Blue Force Padded Vickers Combat Applications Sling (Two Point)
  18. Yes I got it at Quantico. It came with a semi bcg as well and charging handle.
  19. Somehow in this ban scare I picked up a brand new RRA A4 Upper for a NORMAL price.  So to help everyone take their mind off current political non-sense, please help me mod it!   i just got a carbine a4 upper and I want to change it to a quad rail or free float rail system.  I was wanting opinions... although i'm leaning torward a Troy VTAC Alpha 13" or a Seekins SAR 12" or a DD Lite 12".   I want to shave down the fsb and then place something 11-14" overtop.  I also need a sling quick detach hole/point somewhere on the left side of the rail.  I also need a 2" rail space on the top for troy flip-ups.  I also need another 2" rail on the side or top for a thorntail mount/tac light. I'm looking forward to your thoughts AND PICTURES!
  20. Get a Ruger 10/22, sling, and a barska 3-9x scope. That was my first rifle and the scope was added later.
  21. Yeah do a report and it should be entered into NCIC that tracks stolen property.
  22. that's what i was always told (and department policy) is that carry handle/fixed iron sights for those without an optic and flip-ups for those with optics..
  23. my vote is for what i bought. the sig p938!
  24. I have a para ordnance double stack 1911 that i put countless dollars into to make it run right.  If you get one (or any 1911) be prepared to troubleshoot it until it makes you mad and crazy.  And don't even post problems until you put atleast 500 round through it to "break" it in.  I sent mine in to Para Ordnance to have them send it back dirty and having the same problems with feeding.  The barrels have a feed ramp unlike other 1911s and they have some other differences.  My friend got a taurus 1911 and had just as many problems with his until about 300 rounds in it.  Moral of the story, don't expect a 1911 with tight "match grade" tolerances be as reliable out of the box as a glock with loose tolerances.
  25. i love my sig p938! Its so small yet still 9mm.
