Colt, no question.
-
I sometimes carry a Glock 19, which is the same frame as the G23, and I alternate between carrying IWB with an MTAC, or OWB with a Don Hume 721OT or Safarliand 6377. Conceals easily with the first two under just a tshirt... the latter requires a coat or sweatshirt.

Leaving a round in the chamber???
molonlabetn replied to JReedEsq's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The round in the chamber won't deteriorate or anything... so it's really up to your preference regarding what condition you want your gun to always be in, the most important part is that whatever you choose, do it consistently... that way you'll never wonder. Personally... I know that all of my handguns are ready to go if they are in a holster. -
I'm working on the 2nd Season of 'Fringe' from my netflix queue this week...
-
All of my regular pants will accomodate an IWB holstered gun... as mentioned, it just means loosening the belt about 1 or 2 notches.
-
The threaded piece will be too long, with the slide fully retracted it will either bind on the spring coils or hit the plug.
-
But, but... I like seeing two shiny things sticking out when I pull the slide back!!! It's true though... all you need is the stub rod and a plug, a full guide rod really adds nothing except weight.

Either buy a one piece guide-rod, either GI or full length: EGW : 1911 AUTO ONE-PIECE GUIDE ROD - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools

$475 is on the high end that I'd pay for a standard XD... but that's a good deal on an XDm. I've owned every configuration and nearly every available caliber XD, and they all were flawless shooters. The 40 is just as good as the 9mm... just depends on your preference of caliber over magazine capacity.
-
I will make plans to be there. Been looking forward to another class from you guys!

No complaints regarding the Rock Island Armory 1911s. I would buy another one.
-
I shot one... Good trigger, smooth operation, nice grip... the best way to put it is that it has all the best features of a Glock and a S&W Sigma, plus some funky sights that grow on ya pretty quick. I didn't like it enough to run out and buy one, but I respect how well made they are.

I have a Savage single shot .30-30... but I have never shot it. My grandfather fished it out of a lake in NY in the 60s or 70s, surprisingly it's not in too bad shape.

Pros: Increased accessibility and draw speed because you can position the gun ideally in a better holster, greater comfort, ability to carry a full size pistol you shoot more often and more effectively, ability to wear normal properly fitting clothes without needing tuckable holsters and subcompact peashooters, potential for deterrence (which is likely of little or no value if someone is actually determined, drugged or crazy), and did I mention greater comfort? Cons: Increased attention (in my experience, and those of many others, this is profoundly exaggerated on the internet vs. real-life... I have been approached 1 time in 5 years, and after just being polite it was 'oh, ok cool'... most people don't even notice), reduced ability to surprise an attacker (it is doubtful 'surprise' or 'shock value' is a benefit in a real self defense situation which you have any valid justification to use your weapon in... kinda like thinking that racking a shotgun will surprise the burglar into submission), OC is less politically correct, CC allows those who want to carry where they are not wanted or supposed to to do so discreetly while OC does not, it makes you less popular on the internet with those who only CC themselves, Open Carry does seem to attract more than a few attention seekers though, by its nature... which leads to it being associated with less stable people (this is understandable, but waaaaay overplayed).

I was awake for mine... hurt a bit on one side cause it wasn't numbed all the way when he cut, but was doing dandy again within a few days... even back on the motorcycle within a week. ...and the consensus is that the taste is the same, but further testing is planned.

The guns I sell are the ones which I don't shoot... honestly, if I'm shooting a gun alot that means I like it enough to keep it.
-
No. ...but just to clarify, as far as I am concerned trust is earned, and I have no more confidence in someone who bought a gun to not harm me than I do in someone who bought a hammer to be able to build a house. And to go even further, all that an HCP tells me is that a person owns their gun for the right reason... not that they are sane or responsible. However... if trust is relative, then I will concede that statistics do bear out that HCP holders are far less likely to commit violent crime (even less likely than uniformed professionals, according to stats from Texas I saw). I don't live my life by statistics though... been burned by that false confidence once too many.
-
As several have posted... I carry to protect myself, which extends to those I care for personally when they are with me, but I do not see my HCP as a hero-membership-card in any shape, form or fashion. Everyone else has the equal right to decide for themselves to be armed or not... and if they choose not to be, it's their butt, not mine. As to the 'obligation' part of the question... yes, I am obligated to protect myself, since noone else is truly obligated to protect me. That starts with me being aware of the risks involved in a situation, and being prepared to deal with it, and acting accordingly. Carrying a gun always, however, is not an obligation... it is simply a prudent precaution when I am aware that a situation may require the use of a firearm. There are many other ways and tools with which I may protect myself... and above all my true obligation is to use the most important tool which I always carry, my brain.

Is someone actually military or police?
molonlabetn replied to TNRobocop's topic in Feedback and Support
Since there really aren't any 'perks' for the LEO or Military community, with regard to accessing any areas of this site, there is currently nothing to drive a need for verification... similarly, there is no requirement to verify a member's age, HCP status or gender (ie. I might actually be a 12 year old girl without permit)... but kidding aside, I could see some need for such verification (minus the gender part, I ain't checking!) when this community grows to provide specific access for certain professions, interests, perks, etc... but that'll be entirely up to David. -
Drop leg thigh holster

...hmmm, the similarities are rather convincing. Plus, I think I saw Smeagol downtown last week.
-
I don't see a downside to 6.8, aside from the previously mentioned range issue. My only thought is that if I want something harder hitting than .223, I'll go straight to .308, like DaveTN said... I don't think it's a useless round though, since it does fit in the same actions and magwell as a standard AR and provides some increased power. I'll personally be sticking to calibers which are more readily available... I'm not too sure that an extra few grains of bullet weight and millimeter or so in diameter will make a bad hit any better... and a good hit with 5.56 will do what I need it to.

Probably RFID scanners.

They'll fire just fine.

If you run Defrag, it very well might...
