Yep Regis, I'd of been all over this ... about 30 years ago. 

Please explain how this game plays. Different classes? Yardage? Timed fire? Inquiring minds want to know!

Hello Ed!   I think you'll enjoy our group. I've met many of our members face to face through transactions and competitive matches and its always been a good experience.   If you've been here 15 years though, I'm afraid we'll have to call you hillbilly rather than Miami native!  :pleased:

  I thought that barrel looked short. That's sweet. Did you have someone local cut the barrel down?   One (of many) guns of regret I sold was an early JM guide gun in 45/70. My one buddy at deer camp kept his and to this day, hammers 'em down. He doesn't need to track them!

I'm going to attempt a revolver this year ... and I'm thinking of cocking the hammer for EVERY shot!  :rofl:

I'm in.   Guess I'm a gluten for punishment as almost every one of their stages last year had some elaborate mechanical, electrical, gas powered mover! I think they let their rocket scientist stage engineer have a little too much fun, but hey, its still a level playing field.

I love my Marlin 1894. I use it mainly for plinking with mild .38s, and have pretty much retired my .22s from that sport (mainly in protest to the STILL unavailability of everyday ammo).    I would also be interested in the Ruger 77, as I would scope it. Something I won't do to the Marlin.   Hey, I've got yet another reason to buy another gun. Imagine that. I love this forum. :)

They WERE less expensive then the No. 1, but now that they've become quite uncommon, they are bringing quite a bit more if in pristine condition.   I had one in my hands at a gun show several years back in .22 Hornet, but you know how it is ... you can't buy them all.  :cry:

Anybody remember the Ruger #3s in 45/70? They always quit making the cool stuff.  :shrug:

Saturdays are always more open for me.    I like the idea of keeping 12 noon for winter months, and switching it up to 9:00 am for summer months.

Guess .22s won't work on those plates? Have you tried?

Are you having any sort of class breakdown? Or is everything lumped together?

My nod goes to the CZ out of your three choices, but if you want to try a 1911, I'll have my Range Officer there.    I owned a Gold Cup, it was a nice Bullseye gun, but sold it after I quit that sport. I bought a Springfield 1911 after that, and two more once I jumped into IDPA with both feet. Ya might say I'm partial to Springfields, they run well for me and won't break the bank like the upper end 1911s.

I've killed a lot of deer in my 60 years of life. From .221 to .300 WBY, they all worked well if the shot placement was right. My current deer battery is a 7mm/08 and a 6.5x55. I've shot some big deer in the past 6-7 years with these two rifles and I'm sure the deer couldn't tell the difference, all piled up pretty hard in the results.    I have found I actually enjoy shooting these lighter recoiling rifles all year round, which in turn, helps my shooting ability come hunting season. I sold my ultra-lite .300 Weatherby many years ago and do not miss it!   But not to totally hijack Pete's thread ... the Ruger does look interesting for sure. But Pete, if you're going to dabble in long range shooting, get a caliber that's recoil tolerable to YOU, and don't worry about what everyone else is shooting. Take baby steps in distance as well.   Long distance is in the eye of the beholder, and his/her ability as well. Whether 100 yards or 300 or 600, etc., can all feel good when you consistently punch that bullseye.

I thought all the money we spend on hunting and fishing licenses, as well as boat registration funded ALL TWRA operations. 

I collect Smith & Wessons. I carry a fugly Ruger LCR .38.   At 13 oz, it rides light in an IWB holster and the double action rolls over nice and smooth. I like the +P rating too, as that's my carry ammo.   But a 442 is sweet too and definitely beats the Ruger in the beauty contest.  :pleased:   (As far as the new locks, I don't like them, but I've got a friend who competes with a post lock and has fired hundreds of rounds through it with no hiccups.)
