    PX4 Storm Pistol

I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance of the Px4. I bought a 9mm one as kind of a toy. It keeps surprising me though! It has been a tack driver and has probably the least recoil of any 9mm I've ever shot. The ergos are pretty good for my hand. People have crapped on the reliability of the rotating barrel but the thing hasn't hung up yet. Around 1300 rounds and not yet cleaned. Thats not all that much, but so far so good. Cons...the bruniton finish on the storms is about as good as spraying krylon paint on...it chips easy. That being said no rust to speak of yet. As for the whole beretta type F thing with a safety...it was easy to convert to a type G (decock only) and make the controls flush with the slide so you don't rip your flesh off when racking the slide. Its also a bit chunky of a gun compared to alot of whats on the market. All that being said, after the mods I've made to it....Im falling in love with the gun more and more. I may just NP3 it and make it an EDC. Here she is with the stealth kit installed...

    Smith 642

While J-frames are known for being harsh on the hands...much of that is dependent on the load being used. For some reason many don't consider this and just get what the guy behind the counter hands them or they get the latest whiz bang hot loaded +p round thats in the latest gun mag. Id suggest sticking to a lighter bullet weight and standard pressure load. Experiment and find what load helps. Also a soft rubber grip that you can get your pinky on can help quite a bit if it doesn't compromise your concealment. As Seaslug said... the 642 was never intended to be a "take-it-to-the-range-and-shoot-it-all-day" kind of gun. It is however, a VERY practical and reliable weapon. There are a lot of options in holsters/accessories as well as trigger options done by a qualified gunsmith for these.
  3. The cheetah is my favorite 380. If they only made it in 9mm...wishful thinking on my part. They seem to hold their value very well and have their fan club. You'll probably enjoy it very much.

    I need AR info

This. Yes you will have some airsoft commandos now and then, but there are a lot of well known legit guys on there as well. Larry Vickers, Travis Haley, Todd Greene...etc.

    Beretta Xplor A400

I have yet to shoot one. I've known a few people that have gotten them recently though...and they all say its all its cracked up to be. Seems to be a winner.
  6. Wait....shouldn't there be a Hero 1911 up there instead of a Kimber?
  7. Clear, friendly, and to the point....I like it
  8. For starters you can change the hammer spring to a "D" spring. Its the spring they use in their D version pistols. That'll lighten up your double action up ALOT and will also help a bit with single action. If you have a "qualified" individual polish your sear and hammer up a bit, it goes a long way. Most people just stop at the D spring though as the PX4's are already pretty smooth. Its just the pull weight that needs the tuning. Use the Beretta factory spring. The Beretta part # is C99001. You can order them directly from BUSA i think.

    Barrel Twists

If its mainly target and your going to be using cheap 55gr loads 1:9 is fine. Really under a couple hundred yards it isn't going to matter all that much.

    Barrel Twists

If you have a 1:9 twist...it simply means the rifling has made one full revolution or "twist" in 9 inches. If you have a 1:7 twist then you have a full revolution in 7 inches. 1:9 has been the most common. Guys that are running heavier loads (due to the fact that they are longer bullets) tend to go for the 1:7. Some offer a compromise 1:8 these days too. Unless your running heavy loads consistently I really wouldn't worry about having the faster twist. I wouldn't call one superior to the other...it just depends on what your doing with the rifle.
  11. PMAG's are very hardy and hard to kill. You'll find torture tests all over the web. They also feel very reliably. Its hard to beat the PMAG's.

    New M&P9c Carry

Congrats on your new acquisition. The M&P's have matured into a most excellent gun. You wont be able to just own one...especially when you put in an apex tactical sear:)
  13. I have a full size in 9mm. So far so good as I haven't had any issues. Its a real easy gun to shoot. There is a lot you can do to the trigger with these things just as you can on the 92 series.

    Need some AR advice

First off, welcome long time lurker....to TGO. The AR world is HUGE with a lot of choices which is wonderful, but also can be confusing to the first time buyer. As others have said, do some research BEFORE you buy. If you have the time, read this list of brand comparisons. It also explains the main components and their terminology for you as well. Feel free to flood us with questions...thats what this community is all about! M4 CHART
  15. Tennessean article from today... Nashville police chief Ronal Serpas mum on New Orleans job | tennessean.com | The Tennessean Text from Article... One week before New Orleans is expected to name a new chief of police, Nashville’s police chief Ronal Serpas is declining to answer questions he has been approached about his home town job. Mitch Landrieu will be inaugurated as the new mayor of New Orleans on May 3. Landrieu has said he would like to have a new chief picked by that time, and a task force of New Orleans community leaders has been working toward that goal. Earlier this month, Serpas told a New Orleans television station he had not been contacted by the search committee. But, Serpas’s response softened some last week. “It’s been his position that he’s not speaking to anything about New Orleans,†Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said in response to a series of questions about Serpas being approached multiple times by the task force about the job. Media reports indicate that as many as 75 candidates have applied for the job, but the search itself has not been a completely smooth one. Four members of the search task force have quit, citing their lack of access to a list of candidates, who are first vetted by national law enforcement groups. “One of the reasons I left was the task force was not privy to the applicants,†New Orleans NAACP president Danatus King told The Tennessean. Serpas spent more than two decades in the New Orleans Police Department, advancing to the level of chief of operations and assistant superintendent. He then took the helm of the Washington State Patrol for two years before taking the chief’s job in Nashville. Crime has been on a six-year decline in Davidson County since Serpas became chief in 2004. New Orleans, on the other hand, is embroiled in controversy. The FBI has agreed to conduct a civil rightsinvestigation of the department and already this year the city has seen an increase in its homicide rate. In February, Serpas told a New Orleans television station he didn’t have any plans to leave Nashville, a slight departure from his refusal to answer questions on the topic last week. “I have had no contact with anyone from the incoming New Orleans administration,†Serpas told WWL-TV channel 4. “Nashville is now in the midst of its seventh consecutive and unprecedented year of overall crime reduction. I am very happy here and have no plan to go anywhere else.â€
  16. The M&P is hard to beat in its class. You'll enjoy it Im sure!
  17. So......did they not show it at shot? I can't find anything on it. I know it was in the works....did it get delayed?
  18. So I've lately had an itch to get an AK. I've heard the Saigas converted are the way to go. I wouldn't want to do it on my own though. Does any one know who does conversions around here. Or, is there a good place to send it to get converted? Your thoughts would be most welcome.
  19. Congrats on the purchase! While I love my EDC M&P...I took a 92 out to the range today that I bought last week. I've gotta tell ya...the thing is a tack driver! I'll be changing the over to a "D spring" and having a trigger job next week:up: . You'll love your beretta. Now go watch Die Hard and you'll love it even more.
  20. The market is going to be flooded with Piston Driven Evil Black Rifles this year. Smith, Sabre, Sig...the list goes on. It'll be interesting to see if Glock has anything come out in terms of rifles. But then again I hear the Glock carbine rumor EVERY year around this time. In my mind...I just don't see Glock making an AR. I could however, see them making something in a pistol caliber that takes existing Glock mags...something along the lines of the CX4. But who knows.
  21. The other day I saw a guy with the permit badge on but he was concealing:screwy: So no gun in sight but he wanted to show off the badge I guess:shake:

    S&W Warranty?

To answer the OP's question...I have had no issues sending in a pre-owned gun to them. They treated me no different than they did before with a gun that I was the original owner of. I think they have some of the best CS out there. They also pay for the shipping both to and from the factory. YMMV
  23. I do too. But uh, I think Im going to stay out of this one.
