  1. That actually sounds like fun. I think I might try that with my glock or my AR-15 sometime. See how long they fire without any malfunctions and no cleaning. Good experiment! Do you think it will damage the weapons in any way though???
  2. Thanks fellas, I think I'm gonna start cleaning after X number of rounds now. (200 rnds) And after doing some reading based upon what Dolomite said about lubrication I've found I've been putting !WAY! too much lube. I'm gonna try cutting back on that now. Thank you all for the wealth of information. I was certainly not expecting anyone to provide sources but for future reference I prefer MLA... LOL just kidding! (TN-popo) I don't know why it takes me that long. I clean it as if my life depends on it. Perhaps I'm a little OCD, lol. It's kind of weird because when I was in the police academy, I was always the first to finish cleaning my gun.
  3. Okay, so this is officially starting to bother me. Usually I'm extremely religious about cleaning my rifle as soon as possible after I'm done shooting. Here's what bothers me. Colt AR-15 Cheap PMC .223 ammo (non-corrosive?) I hadn't shot my AR-15 for a long time and I cleaned it the last time I went shooting. More recently, I went through the gun and damn nearly sterilized the gun and then oiled it perfectly.... You have to understand that I've had this rifle for less than a year and I've gone through more than 2000 rounds NEVER having ANY kind of malfunction. I'm quite proud of my rifle for this fact... or maybe its normal.. who knows? lol Anyway, two days ago went to the range and shot less than a hundred rounds through the gun just to zero my new Aimpoint.... and..... I HAVEN'T cleaned it yet!!! I know I'm lazy but you have to understand that my process of cleaning usually takes me about two hours on my AR-15. I just feel its so pointless because I only shot a few rounds compared to how much I usually shoot. Anyway, I was just wondering what YOUR practices are as far as cleaning and please elaborate, lol: Do you clean your gun every time you shoot? Do you clean after so many rounds? Any bad experiences from leaving a gun dirty? Especially with an AR-15. Should I stop being a lazy ass and just clean the damn gun? lol Etc... At the moment, I feel the best solution is to go blast away another two to three hundred rounds. Then I can happily clean it! lol
  4. Works, lol Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks fellas. I'm actually using an aimpoint. I went ahead and zeroed it, came home, and remounted it farther back. xD Darn! I have to go rezero again! ^.~
  6. Nice zombie gun! Mine's almost finished. I'll be sure to post photos next weekish.
  7. Can anyone explain where they mount their red dots on their rails and why? I've heard both cases where some say you should mount it as far forward as possible and then I hear some people mount it as far rearward as possible. Pertaining to mounting it as far forwards as possible, most that I have read said that they mount it as far forward as possible without "bridging" the upper and the handguard rails. This makes sense to me since they are usually two separate pieces. However, if I have a monolithic upper rail, would it make sense to mount it even farther forward? I suppose the argument is that the farther forward you mount the aimpoint, the lower the profile of the sight giving you a better view of what your aiming at. I'm leaving to go zero my rifle right now and I have it mounted slightly forward of the "upper receiver area." I bet someone is going to convince me to move it farther forward. And is this one of the perks of having a monolithic upper receiver? lol What are your thoughts as far as rail mounting positions? Thanks
  8. It's fine. No hard feelings, lol. =P It's fine. No hard feelings, lol. =P
  9. Weird, my "quick" Google search found (in order) the OSHI board game, the Online Showcase of Herschel Images, OSHI flowers in Nashville, the Office of Special Health Issues, and Oshi baby play mats but I guess I'm retarded, lol. I'm from Hawaii so technically I'm lucky I even found my way to the internet. Sorry for the enormous inconvenience. A thousand internets to you, my friend! All kidding aside, I actually build computers for fun/free. The whole "did you google it?" thing is just one of my greatest pet-peeves, lol.
  10. I have two Surefire G2x's. The LED is absolutely the most dependable utilitarian light I have ever owned. It was my backup duty light. The LED saves a crap load of $$$ on batteries and the 'throw' of the beam is what makes them so much better than the cheapies. In my own words, lol, Surefire is a true SHTF light. I know for a fact that my Surefires can take a beating. Run em over with a truck... throw em off a multistory-story building... its still absolutely going to work. By the way, you don't NEED to use Surefire batteries for recreational use. I buy Titanium Innovations batteries at $1 a piece from battery junction (vs $2-3/piece for Surefire's). You can also get decent brand Panasonic's or Energizers for pennies more a piece. Just be sure to keep Surefire's in your weaponlights, optics, etc(anything important).
  11. Oshi?
  12. As I was taught in Hawaii, making your fingers into a gun shape and pointing it at people in that fashion is terroristic threatening in the first degree which is a class C felony. Tennessee law may be different, but in Hawaii it's a serious offense. Flipping the bird was your own bad decision. If you were young and single sure, go ahead and do whatever you want. But with your responsibility as a driver and parent you need to think it through better. Is it really worth it? Honking to "prevent" an accident is fine but using it to show portray your anger is pointless and as you have seen... dangerous... Flipping the bird is just throwing fuel on the fire and paints you as an instigator. It also puts yourself, your family, and other drivers on the road at risk for no reason. What if the other driver was a ~complete~ lunatic? What if this dude just robbed a bank? You've already seen that he's driving with reckless disregard for everyone's safety. What makes you so sure he isn't also packing? Is mending your pride, ego, and hurt feelings worth getting rammed off the road or getting your family shot at by a psycho? Or do you just call 911 and let justice be served? I would have shown the other driver that I was calling 911 and writing down his license plate/taking a picture. All the while smiling and laughing.
  13. I've had all good experiences with Surefire. Sure the batteries are expensive, but when things get rough, its the only light I will absolutely trust. I use Fenix flashlights for fun -VERY good bang for the buck and they often use common batteries such as AA or AAA with high lumen output and strong build quality. I beat the crap out of them and they're comparatively VERY bright. I EDC'd these until Surefire came out with a very affordable LED (G2X LED, 120 lumen/2 hours). I can say I extensively used and carried a (issued) Streamlight Polystinger w/rechargeable batteries as a police officer. I wasn't all that impressed as far as durability. Let's just say the first time I dropped it (from chest level), the light broke. Thank god I was just conducting an interview and had a back up Surefire on my belt. Before this even happen I had my doubts with it. It seemed to be of poor build quality to begin with. It didn't exactly inspire much confidence. Surefire = SHTF light, expensive batteries, cheaper chinese ones available (I like titanium innovations from Battery Junction) Fenix = Excellent performance/value, mostly standard batteries, high durability ~~ probably your best bet Streamlight = Good reputation, but not the brightest or most durable..
  14. Anyone thought of T-Shirts?.. That's super easy to do. Heck! TGO should get a table! At the cost of less than two 1y memberships, the price of a table would be covered. I think I actually first heard about TGO from one of the sellers at the last gun show up in Nashville. Imagine if TGO got into EVERY gun show in TN (run it with members, who cares lol). I think its brilliant if I say so myself.
  15. How late is everyone planning on staying? I might not make it til late afternoon.
  16. I also use an adblock and the forums still load really slow in comparison to other websites. Really annoying.. Google Chrome/Windows 7/32-bit
  17. IN Murfreesboro?!?! Now I'm torn between the meet and greet and the gun show! haha Anyone else going to the gun show???
  18. Thanks for all the welcomes! (drv2fst) Thanks for the info!!
  19. I was required to have a 12lb New York Trigger on my Glock 19 with my department for conceal carry so I was never worried about it going off, lol. It takes an act of god for that trigger to go off. I actually really wouldn't recommend it at all, haha! I might recommend you carry it cocked with an empty chamber and full magazine for a while until you get used to it and practice (safely, lol) with it that way. Remember, always treat it like its loaded. Anyway, it might help you transition over to condition 1. Good luck, stay safe!
  20. Merry Christmas to you too?! lol.. And thanks for the welcome!
  21. Thanks for the welcome guys! I have to see if my girl will let me go to the meet and greet. Spring Hill IS close and I hope I can go! How much is it? (Willis68) - Nice! I was born and raised on the island of Oahu (1989-2011). =P I've been to the Big Island many times though. I love Hilo-side and driving up Mauna Kea for the sunset!
  22. Aloha, I just moved here from Hawaii about two or three months ago. I am currently residing in Murfreesboro, TN. I got into shooting when I went through police training academy in Hawaii. Just starting my gun collection with a Colt AR-15 6940, Mossberg 590, and a Glock 19. Hoping after I finish my degree to get back into law enforcement. I love shooting, never tried hunting (can't really hunt anything in Hawaii!). Lookin for some good places to shoot besides $ On Target here in Murfreesboro! I already bought my first shotgun (Mossberg 590) here in Tennessee and I gotta say I love how easy it is to buy a gun here. In Hawaii you have to be 21 to own any type of firearm, you have to apply for a rifle permit, wait two weeks, go to the store, buy the gun, take the gun to the local police station(between 8am-4pm), register it, THEN take it home. Buying a pistol is worse. You have to do ALL the same things and in addition you have to take a handgun safety course before you apply for a permit. It's such a pain! Oh, and conceal carry.. Yeah, ain't none-uh-that... Lets just say I'm happy to be in Tennessee and I intend to make it home. Anyway, looking forward to participating in the forums! Stay safe!
