  1. Congratulations!!!! I used to have one, standard black, that I traded for a hunting rifle but, loved it. Great shooting gun in a great caliber!!! Only a hair bigger than a G19/23 and easy to conceal with the right holster.
  2. I've had mine about two years also. It will easily hold a 5" 1911 in an MTAC all day and not even break a sweat. Mine is the 1 1/4" black with velcro sewn in. I use it as a dress belt every day.
  3. I've got a friend at work that lives in Marion, AR. (It is just West of Memphis.) He was asking me about buying a gun and I told him he would do best buying one in Arkansas to avoid a transfer fee. Is anyone here familiar with gun shops in West Memphis or Marion, AR? Jay

    CZ 75 compact

I have a CZ75 PCR and love it. It has been flawless from day one. It is a DA gun with a decocker. Fits the had better than any Glock I have.
  5. A friend at work received a FNX-40 for Christmas. It is quite a shooter but, he's looking for a holster also. Not luck yet.
  6. Mav, I'm right there with you. I never get the shot and am back to about 90% today after being in the bed since Wednesday night! The last time I had the flu was about 10 years ago. I guess that's not too bad of a record.
  7. Let me start by saying that I get the point of the article and agree with it but...... I have never held a job in my lifetime that required me to carry a firearm to protect myself or others. (Other than being a husband and father.) I have taken classes beyond the basic HCP class but, nothing to the extent of the miliarty or LEO must go through. These are the people I look to for recommendations on what works the best. I realize that politics and money can skew their decisions. What do most LEOs use? .40, I believe. The general military is regulated to, through politics and confroming to NATO, 9mm but, certain parts of the military get to choose what they want to carry and from what I have read, get a stipend to buy what they want. What do Delta Force Operators choose? .45 These guys have a job than can involve "quickly incapacitating" people more than any other profession I have ever heard of and they don't choose 9mm. I agree that the average citizen will, more than likely, be able to better shoot 9mm. The article does end with the little caveat of "shoot the biggest caliber you can control" but, I wish it would explain why people that rely on .40 and .45 for a living made the choice over 9mm. I'm not trying to invoke a caliber war and don't even own a .45 right now. (I've had a few and loved them though.) I prefer to shoot my 9mm any day over my .40 but, I ask myself why so many Police Departments went to .40. I refuse to be a person that makes decisions based on just one source of information. That's the beauty of a forum. We get to discuss so many sides! Jay
  8. I always do the .25 cent trigger job in conjunction with a thorough treatment of Militec when I get a "new to me Glock". Tie these in with a 3.5 lb connector and it makes shooting a Glock so much better for me, my wife, and my sons. It usually takes about an hour of work to get it right. Polishing the metal parts until they are glass smooth and then heating the Militec soaked areas with a hairdryer just takes time. I wouldn't recommend this trigger set up to anyone new to guns but, I won't have one without doing this. My 12 year old usually does the work now while I supervise and to stop the thread from drifting, let me say.... My finger doesn't go on the trigger until I'm ready to fire so it doesn't matter if I have 2lb pull or a 22lb pull.
  9. I think you've chosen a great market to enter at a great time! Your posts already seem to have the GREAT SERVICE end of the success equation met! I think Collierville is a prime spot for your shop and look forward to it. There definately is a Pro 2A attitude on that side of town and enough "FedEx" employees living out there with discretionary income to help keep things moving. Once you get things open, I'll have to plan a field trip from work with my boss. He's been wanting an AR for some time but, is a relationship oriented buyer that lives about 5 minutes from your new shop. Get to know him and he'll be a loyal customer that will bring friends. I'll watch this thread for an announcement on your big "Grand Opening".
  10. I've never been to RangeMaster but, I called them one time and 6 seconds in to the call, I thought I had Guns and Ammo on the phone. (I will only go to Guns and Ammo if I can't find what I want ANYWHERE else.) Tom has a great reputation as a trainer but, his marketing strategy to get the mainstream HCP class people does not seem to have the right "icing on the cake". Range USA doesn't have the high end "tactical" reputation that RangeMaster does but, boy do they have the mainstream recipe right! They are necessarily in the "gun" sales business and post their markup right on the wall. (Right across from the restaurant if you've never seen it.) They make their money doing the classes and renting lanes. To do this, you simply have to keep people moving through the system. Scott Kilby, the owner of Range USA, spent years working for a company that is known for great marketing and customer service. He certainly found a way to transition that experience to his employees at Range USA. I don't know Tom Givens but, I'd venture to say that's not his background and his expectations of employee behavior are quite different. I'm not saying one is better than the other.... Just different marketing strategies and it sounds like your daughter may be better served by Range USA. If she wants to get to the heavy duty stuff, visit RangeMaster again but, know what to expect. Just my thoughts and opinion on the matter.
  11. Lunarpowered, Hate to hear that. I'm always looking to hire great people with IT knowledge. I don't have dedicated IT positions but, it is in a technical field that IT knowledge is certainly helpful. Sent you a PM for yourself or others you work with that might be interested. Jay
  12. IIRC, I had to call them but, they sure enough made it for me. Great people to deal with!
  13. LOL!!! That's more or less what he said!
  14. Is this a disorder caused by an estrogen overload? They have the constant state of mind that "somebody else will take care of me". (Sorry ladies. My wife has a permit and loves to shoot.)
  15. I've had the holster a year or two so I don't recall how long it took but, I wouldn't look for it until next week sometime. It will take a little breaking in before it fully molds to you. Give it some time to break in. Jay
  16. I'm sure the gun control folks have this information and I don't understand why they see it the way they do. Their solution would be to ban all guns and make them illegal. (That method has sure worked well with marijuana, crystal meth, cocaine, etc.) I'm looking to gather this information more to educate the sheep that only go by what they see on the news and take it as gospel. If I can refute the liberal news media with facts about how it really works, I may just get someone to listen. Good one, Ghooge2008! Thanks!
  17. I'm not sure if this is the right area to start this thread so, moderators, please feel free to move it. I'd like to compile a list of "Gun Free Zones" that didn't work out too well because laws prohibited CC. 1. Columbine - 13 killed 2. Virginia Tech - 32 killed (I read that 30 of these were after the police arrived.) 3. Northern Illinois University - 6 killed 4. Fort Hood - 13 killed 5. Pearl, MS school shooting - 2 killed (Incident stopped by an Asst. Principal who went to his truck and retrieved his .45) 6. Heath High School, Paducah, KY - 3 killed I can only assume that there was a "gunbusters" sign at the Florida School Board meeting and the only fatality was the perpatrator. I think there was another one in the NorthEast where immigrants were applying for citizenship or something. The purpose of this is to have a list for people who cry for more gun control so we can show them how it doesn't work already and the need to allow trained people to carry in these places could have saved lives.
  18. It is the one I picked up from you. You'd be suprised that it really doesn't show very much. I normally carry a G23 in a Smart Carry holster but, I wore this one last week to prove to someone that a Government model 1911 could be hidden effectively. When I got home, my 12 year old, who is a very experienced shooter for 12, said something about me carrying the Glock. I told him I didn't have it on and it took him a minute of looking before he noticed the clips on the MTAC. I also have the velcro clips and boy does it really disappear then! The only thing I have to watch out for is when I'm called to the VP's office. If I sit in one of his leather chairs, the butt of the gun will leave an indention in the leather. He's asked that I don't lean back in the chair if I'm wearing that holster. How's that for a carry friendly workplace?
  19. Get your mind out of the gutter! Everyone seems to want a smaller gun to hide but, here are some cell phone pics of what I hide with a MTAC holster. Kimber TLE RLII with a tucked shirt! I highly recommend the MTAC holster.
  20. Full story on this one at the link below. Scroll down just past Whiskey's post. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/hunting/48272-2010-youth-hunt-reports.html
  21. newtothis, Check out this thread on me taking my 12 yr old to Shelby Forrest State Park. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/hunting/48272-2010-youth-hunt-reports.html There are some specific rules you have to follow like NO centerfire rifles and buck only but, we were lucky enough to get one that day. Jay
  22. Would that be like a cross dresser?
  23. Geeez! You're all overlooking the most simple answer! Just put the second, third, and fourth shot in the same hole as the first shot. Use whatever caliber you like. CAPTIAN OBVIOUS
  24. I have a 5" Kimber and can easily tuck it with my MTAC but, I love my OS Pro from HBE Leatherworks. Eric (HBE) is in Salt Lake City and is a GREAT guy to deal with! His product is top notch also.
  25. My son is pumped! He just doesn't see what's so hard about hunting???? Looks like I'm in the market for a rifle now.
