And btw, in that price range, have you considered the LaRue OBR?
-
Oh yeah. That big, heavy, stainless target barrel does what it's supposed to do.

My Pop bought an AR10T and sent it to Armalite to get the PRS stock, quad-rail forend, and bipod. He spent considerably less than $3000 (before the optic), and the only thing a true Super SASS has that his doesn't is the adjustable gas system (he won't be getting a suppressor anytime soon). Your call.

Great looking rifle! +1 on the UBR. I've got one on my RECCE, and I love it. I'm trying to resist the urge to put one on the 10.5" I'm waiting on though, and I'll probably just go with a CTR to save weight. I think the most exciting thing about your post is that it only took 67 days door-to-door for your tax stamp to arrive. I just sent in the paperwork on 2/23 for my 7.5" Noveske, so now I'm REALLY fired up!

I don't have any experience with the PM9, but I LOVE my PPS in .40 S&W. I'm a Glock guy, and the PPS is essentially the single-stack subcompact that folks have been clamoring for Glock to produce for years. The only thing I don't like is that silly European ambi-mag release, but everything else about the gun just feels right to me. YMMV.

UPDATE: Got fingerprinted and sent my application (and check ) to BATFE today. Nothing left to do but hurry up and wait...

Umm...I'm a Realtor. I HAVE thought about it. My investor friends and I make quite a bit of money off of people who think exactly that way. Keep in mind that--when you rent--your landlord very likely has a note on the property, as well as property taxes and insurance. You're paying ALL of those things for him, and then some. When you move out, you get nothing. If HE decides to liquidate the property, he'll most likely get a check for thousands of dollars in equity. Are there people who are upside down? Sure, but the vast majority of those folks did little (if any) research before making their purchase, and they probably bought more home than they could afford by utilizing sub-prime loans such as adjustable-rate or interest-only. Smart investors, especially in a non-bubble market like ours, very rarely lose money on real estate investments. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I do understand better than most how the game is played. I would NEVER encourage anyone not to own property if he or she had the means to do so.

Good idea. Pay someone else's mortgage, rather than your own...

It's actually only a semi-auto, so it won't be subject to the stresses that a full-auto would. It's also stainless steel rather than chrome-lined, but it's Noveske's proprietary stainless steel. The material they use scores a 32 on the Rockwell C scale, which is even harder than the call-out for the mil-spec M-16 barrel. John Noveske is on record as saying that he is aware of a number of his barrels that are still in service with over 15,000 rounds down the tube...

There is more to this story than is being reported. In this difficult real estate market, the banks typically do everything they can to NOT foreclose. I am aware of a couple here locally who owned a home for over a year and never made a SINGLE payment before the bank finally initiated foreclosure proceedings. I'm not convinced that this gentleman is the innocent victim he claims to be. Something just doesn't add up...

It's an M-revision PMag that was included with the gun.

Didn't make one for this gun. I'm planning on being buried with it--which may be sooner rather than later...

Enjoyed meeting you, as well! Hope to see you again soon!

Holy crap! You hear that, too?! I thought it was just me!

Tell me about it... On a brighter note, my Form 4 was signed by the Sheriff this morning, although I can't get fingerprinted until next Tuesday. Should have my whole packet on its way to BATFE by Wednesday at the latest, and then the clock will start ticking...

Richard Simmons. Same as in person...

You could've gotten about eleventy billion Mosins for what I shelled out for that thing, but none of them would've had "Noveske" stamped on the side. My butt definitely hurts, but at least I got a free hat and a free stripped lower in addition. Oh, and the unveiling is whenever BATFE says it is...lol. I'm hoping for 3 months...

Well, my new baby is finally here. After 2 months of waiting on the Form 3 to come back, Noveske was finally able to ship my 7.5" Diplomat with VLTOR VIS upper and KX3 flash hider. This is my first NFA item, and the suspense is already killing me! I'm off to the Sheriff's Office tomorrow to get the ball rolling on the Form 4. Can't wait to take her home and trick her out!

The Zooperstars perform at halftime of the UT men's and women's basketball games every once in a while. Great show--you can check 'em out on YouTube. I saw "Mackerel" Jordan eat an official last year...

Actually, it's "Robble, robble". Get it? Hamburglar? Robble? And as for the issue at hand, I'm curious about this one, as well. I hope Strick will chime in to let us know whether the thread was closed because it was an actual violation of the TOS, or simply because it was poor form given the circumstances.

Like others have said previously, I'd obviously like to minimize contact between myself and an intruder, but since I'm also not going to pull the trigger if he tries to flee, my only true options for detention are physical restraint and cuffing. The question then becomes, do I want to keep my distance at the risk of him returning later angry and/or better-prepared?
-
I AM trained in restraint and detention, and I also keep a pair of cuffs in the house. I've often wondered what I would do if I were ever in that situation. I am somewhat familiar with the laws re: citizen's arrest, but I don't believe that allows for cuffing. I might be a bit concerned about the potential for civil liability after the fact if it were to come to that, as stupid as that sounds. Any one of you legal-types wanna weigh in?
