Cavey, I was told that the guy who did our Unarmed Security training (can't remember if you were there for that, or not) also does baton training locally. I think he's out off Watt Rd. Might be worth looking into, and I'd definitely be game. On a side note, I carried my ASP in the truck and at the club for probably 3 years before I realized that I could hauled off to the hoosegow for it. Of course, of all the things for which I could've been jailed in those days, carrying an ASP was probably the least egregious...

I frankly wish they had invented it sooner. I like the overpronation hold a lot, as it just feels natural to me. I've got one on my Saiga-12, my AK, and my Remington 870 now...lol.

Thanks! I spent the better part of a work day on that one... :P

You mean like...wormholes? The idea of bending the fabric of spacetime means that 2 points in the universe can be "bridged" without the need for "speed"...

I'm not sure it has so much to do with masculinity as it does with simply being an adult. I can't imagine ever standing anywhere for any length of time and waiting on help. If I want help, and someone is very obviously available to help me, I will ask for it. Having run a couple of different operations myself, I would also have no problem taking the sales person to task on the spot if the lack of attention were egregious enough, and I would not be shy about moving up the food chain if warranted. None of this is rocket surgery. The attitude of entitlement, passivity, and helplessness exhibited by many in this thread just makes me sad.../rant

Well, in this case, I think it has something to do with the fact that this particular poster was asked in another thread to be sure to speak up and ask for JWP if he had an issue the next time he came in. Obviously, he did not do so, and the whole story sounds a little fishy. Honestly, who drives from Hermitage to Knoxville to supposedly stand around for 20 minutes without so much as a peep? I'm a huge PITA myself, but I've had no problem getting service at CCA because I ACT LIKE A MAN AND ASK FOR IT. Just my $0.03...

At one time or another, I have had the following red-dot/holographic sights mounted to my shotguns: Remington 870: C-More, EOTech 512, Burris Fast Fire II Saiga-12: C-More, Kobra, Burris Fast Fire II, EOTech 512, Aimpoint Micro H-1 I've never had any problems performance-wise with any of them, although size, weight, and height of dot have been a consideration in my decisions to add/remove them. Also, despite the fact that the EOTech is the largest and heaviest optic I've owned (with the exception of the Kobra), I've found that I REALLY liked the dot-in-a-doughnut reticle on a scattergun. The new smaller, lighter, XPS series seems like it might be just about perfect for an application such as yours.

MAKEOVER UPDATE: My ridiculously-evil black shotgun is not so black anymore, but it's still ridiculously evil--perhaps even moreso with its new tacticool additions...

Might wanna be wary of this particular vendor. Just Google the name, and you'll see what I mean. In fairness, I've done business with them twice, and I've only had one minor complaint. YMMV...

You're not helping your own cause, Dave. You stated that you have potential solutions, and yet you've offered none. I made a suggestion way back before you even asked that the problem will be solved when police begin policing themselves and forget about all this "thin blue line" BS, and you had no comment. All you've done to this point is continue to overreact and antagonize, and as a result, perpetuate the stereotype that you're railing against. Just my $0.03...

I can't speak for the OP, but I'm faster on target with my EOTech reticle than I am with my Aimpoint dot. Not to mention the wider field of view. YMMV...

I think that's the point, Dave. I don't know of anyone on this board who thinks that ALL cops are bad. I think some folks are just concerned that there seems to be a disproportionately high number of LEOs who do bad things and are never really held accountable. I'm glad to hear that your guy was, but many, many more are not. When questions ARE raised and folks like you and Muttling immediately jump on those who raise them, it just further reinforces the notion that the LE community will do anything and everything to protect their own, regardless of whether or not a given individual deserves protection. This attitude only serves to further widen the chasm between LEOs and those who are skeptical of them, which in turn leads to even more distrust and animosity. This cycle will only be broken when the "good cops" (the majority) finally stand up and expel the "bad apples", rather than being complicit and turning a blind eye.

How about your former brethren whom you claimed were "out to get" you when you were arrested for carrying illegally in Illinois? Are you just as proud of them? I'm not taking a side--just curious...and maybe a little, as well...

Costello: "So, what kind of gun do the cops around here carry?" Abbott: "Glock 22." Costello: "What?! Why in the world would a cop wanna carry a .22?" Abbott: "It's a .40." Costello: "You mean to tell me Glock makes a gun that shoots .22 and .40?!" Abbott: "No, a Glock 22 shoots .40." Costello: "What?! Next, I guess you're gonna tell me that a Glock 38 shoots 9!" Abbott: "No, a Glock 38 shoots .45 GAP." Costello: "WHAT?!?! What the heck is .45 GAP?!" Abbott: "It's a .45 that's the same size as a 9." Costello: <nearly faints> "So, you're tellin' me that a Glock 22 shoots .40?" Abbott: "Yep." Costello: "And a Glock 38 shoots .45 GAP?" Abbott: "Yep." Costello: "And .45 GAP is the same size as a 9?" Abbott: "You got it." Costello: "So, what the heck does a Glock 40 shoot?!" Abbott: "They haven't made that one yet..."

Mayor dispels rumor about Belle Meade gun ban
Seaslug replied to TNTitan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thank you. This is exactly the point I was trying to make all the way back in post #2, but you've done a much better job of laying it all out here. Kudos. -
I'm Seaslug, and I approved this message. And yes, I'm a Super Elite Tactical Mall Ninja. SunTzu is actually my apprentice...

Couldn't resist. Had to go down to the shop and play with her a bit today. Got her dressed up all pretty for a quick pic...

Mayor dispels rumor about Belle Meade gun ban
Seaslug replied to TNTitan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Fair enough. It just seems like they could have simply removed the entire passage, rather than just the section regarding the army/navy pistol, and the controversy would have been avoided. -
Mayor dispels rumor about Belle Meade gun ban
Seaslug replied to TNTitan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
How exactly is she dispelling the rumor? The passage above is still part of the municipal code, and if the state preemption issue is ignored, then it could still be considered illegal to carry any sort of firearm in the city of Belle Meade. -
It actually uses the SR-25/M110 mags. They look like AR-10 mags, but they're slimmer.

Excellent post. Food for thought for those who buy into rhetoric, rather than the ideals upon which this country was founded, as our nation slips further and further away from what once made us great...

Budget? I only ask because I'm going to say LaRue every time, unless you get sticker shock easily. Their QD mounts with built-in rings are the best in the business hands down, but they're not cheap.

Been there. Done that. All I got was a red-speckled gun that burns when it shoots...

Man, I'd give anything for a good, solid knee to the gun right about now. Is that weird?
