Thanks...I liked the Fortis Rev but they didnt have a 15in model. I am about to setup a trust and hope to hang a can off that rifle by summertime next year....

  5. Hey it's a gun forum....next post i wanna see your favorite pet
  6. My ammo boxes are too heavy to sling...my UPS guy probably has a blown O-ring....
  7. Watching the segment of fox and friends?
  8. eotech sights are pretty much designed to co-witness with AR iron sights.  they are not a bad red dot by any means.  the amount of money you spend will generally dictate the quality of what you are getting; but like you said you have to consider how you are going to use your rifles.  if you are just going to shoot recreationally you can go with a cheaper sight and will probably have no worries.  if you are planning to train with your gun then i would go with the sights that have been proven to consistently work in less than desirable conditions...
  9. I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong, but you can buy mounts to allow an absolute co-witness or a lower 1/3, whichever you prefer....i have used both eotech and currently aimpoint and i can say that when i shoulder the rifle to get my sight picture all i see is the red dot...i do not see the tube itself...that should come with actual use/training with the setup you choose...
  10. Here is a link breaking down the features and pros/cons of different red dots. Should get you started on what to look for that fits yor needs: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/02/chris-dumm/gear-review-eotech-vs-aimpoint-vs-primary-arms-red-dot-scopes/
  11. Something along the line of an eotech would be the closest to the budget you are hinting at for a holographic type sight...is there a particular reason why you dont want a "tube" style red dot? Is it just personal preference?
  12. Something along that line would probably do well on a 22...i have a lesser expensive bushnell red dot on a 10/22.. it has held up fine to shooting, but then again it isnt on something with any type of recoil that would knock it out of zero...get the best you can afford, even if you have to save a little longer to get it...keeps you from spending more money in the long run...
  13. Wouldn't the chrome lined barrel only really benefit if shooting the corrosive milsurp?
  14. Shoot that one. If it holds its zero then keep it. If you want better battery life, weather proof, and more heavy duty get an Aimpoint....
  15. Yep, ask my wife about my new Protech auto...
  16. Hell we might just end up driving here and there over the course of those few days and staying in a hotel or two. There wasn't really anything in particular we were looking to do other than NOT sleep in a tent this time around. My family likes being outside and camping, hiking, etc so we would definitely be more at home in mid/east TN in that respect since there are a wider variety of opportunities. All this hinges mainly on where my wife's engineering degree lands us after her graduation as she will at that point make more in salary than me...
  17. We stayed at Fall Creek Falls 2 years ago and camped 3 days. It was really nice but we are looking for just something new this time around. As far as relocating my wife has possible options southeast of Nashville or in Oak Ridge...other things may come into the picture as her graduation gets nearer. As far as commute time, emergency sevices, etc we are already spending about 45mins to an hour commuting daily in Memphis so that would probably be the goal or less when considering our move. Faster access to emergency services would be great but not at the cost of living like we are now. We want to have about 50 acres minimum after this move as we will likely spend into our golden years there and would like a plot large enough to make it a worthwhile inheritance to pass to our boys and there future families.... This stuff is all still kind of a fluid situation, hence the scouting trip being an addition to the anniversary trip...
  18. So my wife and I are looking for a place to spend 3-4 days in mid October here in TN.  We will probably be relocating in the next year or 2 to mid/east TN and buying some property to build a house.  This is kind of an anniversay/scouting trip.  Any thoughts/recommendations for places we could stay and have some things to do while also kind of getting the feel for the area?  A friend made mention of Chattanooga being kind of nice, but didn't really expound on anything in particular.  We have also been to Knoxville, but only in passing to go to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge.  Thanks guys for your input...
  19. Extended slide stop for a tactical Pez dispenser....
  20. Nice to see the article but think it will mostly be overlooked or ignored unfortunately....
  21. Well keep at it, the first try is usually the most difficult...
  22. I was up late last night skimming you tube for how to's....lol
  23. Awesome first try....you might be missing your true calling...
  24. Xs big dots...not the best pic but a good sight IMO...
  25. My century C39 has been good so far other than having to add some bend into the trigger spring. I have an Arsenal as well. I would like to get an AK from Rifle Dynamics in the next 12-18 months...
