  1. Nice looking team!!!
  2.   Hammer, sorry to hear about your daughter.  Diabetes is a horrible thing to have.  My wife is now also dependent on insulin.  I'm not sure digging a hole would get you where you need to be.  Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but a cave temperature will usually be at a steady temperature of 58 degrees F or so.  I doubt a hole in the ground would be any colder, unless it were winter time.
  3. When I had my Hi-Point 9mm Carbine I wasted money on Pro-Mag 15 round magazines.  $35 later, I found out that I shoulda stuck to Hi-Point mags.  I usually don't forget a lesson. :koolaid:
  4. Picked up two more mags today.  Hi-Point 8 rounders.  No after market mags for me.
  5. See I think you use whatever is at hand. I think a good, sturdy, inexpensive bike has a place in your bug out or bug in kit. And has pointed out by someone earlier one does not need to feed a bike or gas it up. Not to mention you can use it under normal conditions for things like cheap transportation or getting in shape. ☺
  6. So if motor transportation wasn't available, what would you do walk, ride a bicycle or find an animal?
  7. Let me clarify further , we are talking about bicycles. ☺
  8. What got the bike thing started was the discussion about what all a EMP would knock out, like all cars that use computers. Bikes don'e use computers. :)
  9. Don't know yet, but I plan to find out this weekend!!!
  10. I'd love to see this happen, but I doubt it does.  But if it does, I want one!!! :)
  11. Also, if you don't like to pedal all the time, there are kits that allow you to add a small gas powered engine to the bike.  There is a man in Halls, near Knoxville, that rides one of these all the time.   http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3ABicycle%20Engine%20Kits   Also, if I were going to do a bug out bike, I'd get one of these to go with it.  We used to have one when my oldest was little My wife and I would right and tow her.  It was also great for hauling loads around in as well. Some of them can old almost 200 lbs!!!   http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_13?url=search-alias%3Doutdoor-recreation&field-keywords=bicycle+trailer&sprefix=Bicycle+trail%2Caps%2C278&rh=i%3Aoutdoor-recreation%2Ck%3Abicycle+trailer
  12. During the Vietnam War, the North Vietnamese moved most everything down the Ho Chi Minh Trail on bicycles.  They didn't ride them, they pushed them.  They could push loads as heavy as a 660lbs on them using two men.  One bike hauled a record 100 tons over the course from 1961-1962.   http://www.historynet.com/pedal-power-bicycles-in-wartime-vietnam.htm
  13. We got off topic on the EMP thread and got to talking about bikes. So I thought I'd start a bug out bike thread. http://stealthsurvival.blogspot.com/2012/02/spokes-for-survival-bug-out-bike.html?m=1 http://www.bugoutsurvival.com/2013/03/bug-out-bikes.html?m=1 http://m.instructables.com/id/Bug-Out-Bike-Apocalypse-Bicycle/

Sounds like it's going to be a great long range gun!  Dolomite was talking about how easy it was to build a Savage.  I might have to look into this.

    My First 1911

I had a SS Loaded edition.  Great pistol.  Traded for an AR.  Now I have a GI with adjustable sights.  Hard to beat a Springer!

Dang it robtattoo, don't leave us hangin'! What is this thing? We want details, right down to the crapper scope! :D And how does it shoot? This wasn't the one that you got the jeep with was it? :)
  18.   That was my experience with the two I had back in the 80's and early 90's.  And that was with the first several rounds.  After the barrel heated up those groups tended to get wider.  I've heard that they are much better now, but for the cost of one, I'd rather have an AK or AR.  You are basically in the same ball park in price.   I like the looks of this American Rancher, just wish they would accept AR mags.  Then it would be a handy little bolt action!  Ruger kills me using their proprietary magazines.  They are good magazines, but they are damned expensive!!!
  19. Ureaka!!! I have stumbled on to something!!! ?
  20. Hmmmm,,, Wonder what has them all stirred up.  Nothing on the horizon, I hope!  I think I have said it before, but this is my worst fear. If the grid goes down, our goose is cooked.   http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/05/04/military-eyeing-former-cold-war-mountain-bunker-as-shield-against-emp-attack/
  21. There ain't no way a pair of basketball shorts would ever contain a Hi-Point!  It's the Chuck Norris of pistols and can never be contained!  They are so heavy, the shorts would be down around the wearer's cankles!!! LOL!!!
  22. Interesting write up!  I had one of the FEG Hi-Powers once upon a time.  My personal opinion was that it had an awful gritty trigger and the internals were made of cheap metal.  I didn't keep it very long.  Later on in life, I got an actually Browning HP.  It was far superior in fit, finish and accuracy with a decent trigger.  I've considered purchasing one of the FEG double actions in .45ACP, not long ago, but remembered the quality of the other FEG I had and put my hands in my pockets and walked away.
  23. I do tend to like them on the trashy side! LOL!    Seriously, is there anything I need to know about these things?  I bought it as a truck /fishing/loaner pistol. I'm the third owner.  The guy I bought it from said it had it several years and only put a box of shells through it.  I'll look for a couple of new mags for it.  I will admit this is my second HP.  I had a carbine several years ago and always regret I sold it, but I needed to pay some bills.  Wish I had that old Planet of the Apes gun back!
  24. Would be cool if you can use a SIG brace on it.  Otherwise, I think I would just as soon have the carbine in .45ACP.
