  1. Haha, not much I could do before knowing the situation!
  2. I think I've got an extra roll pin... let me know if you want it Edit: Whoops, the extra one I had will be to large, it's for the trigger guard.
  3. Haha, nothing like that. I just wouldnt go spooking a police officer at my doorstep late at night I barely, if ever, have any unexpected visitors knocking on my door. If I did, and I had my gun holstered on my hip, I would probably open the door in a manner that my body stayed in between my gun and the visitors eyes.
  4. Leave it on the hip, with your hands FAR away from it. Wait for further instructions
  5. Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of non-traditional power. Something to provide just enough power for a little light when you might need it, and maybe other tasks, like pumping or filtering water, I dunno. You should read up on some passive solar techniques.
  6. Sounds pretty cool Astra. How are you constructing the place? Is it going to be a simple "stick built" construction, or something more.. uh... "fortified"? Any plans for water or power out there?
  7. Oh Bkelm, will there ever be a shortage of reasons for why it stings when you pee?
  8. Ever consider converting your pool to saltwater? I'm not educated on this kind of stuff, but I would imagine it would be easier to remove salt from water than chlorine and whatever else. I also hear that after the initial setup, saltwater pools require less to maintain.
  9. Good call, I almost forgot about the Yammy FZ6! I really like those as well (big fan of the stock underseat exhaust), while I hear they deliver decent midrange for an inline four, I'm very partial to a tourqey v-twin sport standard. Have you ever seen the Euro FZ6 where they've ditched the quarter fairing? It's Niiiiiiiiice: If I'm going to pay that much for a bike, I would expect it to pay dividends in performance and/or reliability. Neither of which HD is currently accomplishing. I want a bike, not an image You sir, are evil!
  10. Er.. Parallel Twin?
  11. Yeah, MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) sponsors classes, and they provide the bikes. You are not required to take the class to get a license, but I would highly recommend it. It costs about $185, I think. Two major pluses to taking the class (aside from what you'll learn) is after they give you a certificate, the DMV will grant you a full motorcycle endorsement (i.e., no tests to take, not restricted permits, nada). The other plus is a savings on insurance.
  12. It actually was up for the task surprisingly well, but it did start running out of breath a few times over some steep passes in Colorado. I was sore the first two days, but my body got used to it
  13. Hey man, if you ever get that itch, I'll let you take mine around the block a few times The Marauder is looking like it'll be pretty hard to say no to... It's a smoking deal... I've been considering insurance costs as well, which I havent gotten quotes on but would imagine they would rank, from cheapest to most expensive DRZ400SM, Marauder, SV. I agree the DRZ would be an AWESOME 2nd bike, but touring capability would be limited... then again, you're talking to the guy who rode a Ninja 250 all the way from Nashville to San Diego last summer, hahaha. I wish two bikes was an option
  14. So, I've been toying with the idea of getting a new bike... So why not post the bikes I'm considering and let you guys weigh in? I've always wanted a Ducati Monster, but due to my current employment situation, I shouldnt even consider one. Enter the Suzuki SV650. The SV is Suzuki's answer to the Monster. It's lightweight, has a great 90degree V-twin motor, it's mass is incredibly centrailized, and it looks pretty farkin sweet as well. It's been noted as a great bike for sport touring, comfortable for two-up riding, and has the kind of Japanese service intervals a Ducati owner surely envys... Then there's the Suzuki DRZ400SM. It's a supermoto bike, I guess you could say it's a dirtbike raised by a family of sportbikes... It's a GREAT bike for around town, and can handle light trail work w/ ease. It's cons are it's small gas tank, and I could imagine it probably wouldnt be the most comfortable thing for long rides... ... and out there in left field, we have the Suzuki Marauder 800. I don't really dig cruisers all that much, but a good friend of mine offered me a smoking deal on h is 03 Marauder w/ 600 some odd miles on it. That's right, 600 MILES! So, lets hear it folks!
  15. Ah, yes Magnolia, that's it. His decision to move back had more to do with his rapidly developing drinking problem, and the situations that tend to develop when his drinking habits and generally crappy luck collide.
  16. Several weeks ago, a buddy of mine was piss drunk and wandering around lost in Knoxville by himself, soon to find himself in the ghetto. I wanna say somewhere near Melrose Ave, but I could be mistaken... it was near the Greyhound bus station anyway, and nothing good is ever near a Greyhound bus station. So, he's just walking along and a group of thugs come driving down the street, slow down when they come to him, and all look at him. They continue down the street. Just as he's getting nervous, he notices that they've turned around, and are speeding towards him. They jump out of their car and grab him, and throw him in the backseat and jump back in on either side of him. By this time, he has his wallet out and is telling them to take it, and let him out of the car. The driver turns around and says "Nah, that's not him"... They tell him to keep his wallet and get out. Classic case of mistaken identity I guess... The friend in question is about 6'2" w/ red hair, which begs the question, just how many 6'2" red heads could have been wandering around the ghetto at 2AM?! Guy is lucky he didn't end up in a ditch. Long story short, he decided to move back to Nashville.
  17. I've heard bums and other street urchins have been know to carry screwdrivers as stabbing weapons, as carrying a screwdriver isn't in anyway illegal, although carrying a good old fashioned BAK (Big Ass Knife) would be. Haha, did you read the story about the "fighting ring"? I find it kind of funny that they are selling a reproduction of something that was meant to be made out of piece of pipe in the prison maint facility (and could be purchased for a carton of smokes) for $300 large
  18. HIGHLY doubtful... all the reputable folks are backed up.
  19. Geez... My girlfriend's grandparents recently opened a liquor store. Turns out, the space that they are leasing in a strip mall was formerly leased by DHS, and they still have the "ghost busters sign" on the door prohibiting firearms. Me being the nice guy I am told her grandmother she might want to remove the sign, as many HCP folks won't shop at a biz that prohibits legal carry, and they may loose business for it... Her response "I don't care, they can go somewhere else, my gun is the only one I want in here". My response? "Yeah... Because armed robbers will really care about your stupid sign "... So yeah, me and my gun buy our booze elsewhere now
  20. I saw 2 or 3 and Guns and Leather (Greenbrier, TN) last time I was there. You might drop Joe @ Hero Gear a line, I know they stock Stoeger, but I dont know whether or not they specifically carry the Cougar or not.
  21. Cool, I'll be on the look out for it, Pun! Maybe I can find a torrent for it.. er... I mean... pay to rent it at a video rental establishment... I'm looking forward to hearing reviews for Watchmen... Hmmmm... I might just have to go watch it on Monday since I have **** else to do, haha
  22. I've been meaning to pick up a Stoeger Cougar for quite some time...
