I've only ordered from the guys that I linked for the carry handle once, but it was a very fast transaction, even with my last minute call to add some stuff to my order, haha. Good guys. Good prices on Lancer mags as well. Lancer mags aren't "tacticool" they're "tactibadass".

$30: http://store.a51tactical.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_67_79_83&products_id=932 Plus, you can order some mags while you're at it Who said no one the ergo? I've never heard anyone dis the ergo after having handled one.

I'd upgrade to the ergo grip if I were you. It's a cheap upgrade, and well worth it.

Well, as long as we're turning this into a Del-Ton middy pic post... I'd say the "bang for your buck" that you get from Del-Ton is worth the wait. I'd go for it since you don't have a lower in hand ready to build right now.

You are correct with your guess. I've also heard the mid-length gas system causes less wear and tear as it has a smoother stroke than the carbine. Supposedly less recoil than a carbine as well, but let's face it, recoil has never been a problem with an AR. I went with the middy myself. The barrel is just as short as a carbine, but you get more handguard real-estate. I went with a quad rail on mine, and I've always liked the looks of longer rails on ARs, so it was a no-brainer for me. EDIT to add: You shouldn't need the M4 feed ramps if you go with the middy. I'd go w/ the T-marked upper. Personally, I went with a chrome-lined myself... Will I ever REALLY need a CL barrel? Probably not, but I like things over-engineered.
  6. That was my thought as well!
  7. A former analyst for the KGB has predicted the fall of the US. Not that I believe he's right, but it's an interesting article. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123051100709638419.html EDIT: Be sure to checkout the link to WSJ's site. It includes a map of the predicted break-up of the states... notice where TN is.
  8. I just dont get the Nascar jackets thing...
  9. I have no doubt that it could prevail over several other styles, but it seems a lot of Krav Maga technique is based off of what would be called "fighting dirty" in the ring. Of course, when it comes to self-defense, there's no such thing as fighting dirty, as all is fair in love and war. I trained Brazilian Jujitsu and Muay Thai a few years back, and while I liked the Jujitsu, I wouldn't see it being effective while fighting multiple assailants. It'd be real easy to punch someone in the head while they had your friend wrapped up in their guard, you know?
  10. If only they made a fork version so I could eat my lunch with it...
  11. I think where a lot of the criticism comes from is MMA instructors who claim it is ineffective in the ring, or only focuses on "dis-arms". Which is true to some extent. It wouldn't work in the ring, because it wasn't designed for the ring! It was designed for neutralizing a threat, specifically an armed threat, NOT sport-fighting. I'd like to give it a try myself. Where is mid-south Krav Maga located?
  12. Haha, I went to East Town once when I lived in K-town...ONCE! Opry Mills can be hit or miss. I've had mixed experiences there. The Friday night crowd sucks... why can't they have cool mallrats like Jay & Silent Bob?
  13. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.... Your "wife"...
  14. I've never owned any Hi-Tec tacticoolio boots, but I had a pair of Hi-Tec hikers that have held up very nicely. Really light and comfortable too.
  15. Anybody know of a reputable vendor who does engraving in or around Nashville? My brother and I are looking to engrave and gift a 1911 for our dad, and I would like to get the slide engraved w/ at least his initials, possibly something else as well. Any info on possible vendors and/or possible costs would be greatly appreciated!
  16. Haha, I saw 3 unmarked cars with folks pulled over on the way to work this morning... didn't even think about the "year end quota"
  17. I've got a pair of durango style boots made by the Doc. I like'em a lot, but wouldn't hike in them.

    MY NEW RIA 1911

Yeah, I hate the chrome... aside from looking so damn "blingy", it gets fingerprinted up real nicely.
  19. Boo this man!

    MY NEW RIA 1911

I like the stainless one. I wish RIA would nix the chrome and pickup the stainless.
  21. I thought I hated you when I saw your slick 870 AOW... Now I know what hate is... and I HATE you! Haha, seriously though, congrats. I've taken a liking to machine pistols as of late, and I like the looks of yours.

summitgunbroker.com is a pretty cool site. I'm tempted to pic up one of those S&W police trade ins now. Not what I want, but hot damn, those Sigma's are selling for $185 a piece. Not bad for a gun w/ S&W's warranty.
  23. I picked up a pair of Gore-Tex Asolo boots from sierratradingpost.com about 3yrs ago. They've held up wonderfully.

    Walther P5

I've never seen that many around, but it seems when I see them they're usually in the high $400s to low $500s

Go for it DB! Not a bad deal at all! I'm a big fan of the midlength myself, and you really can't go wrong w/ RRA. What kind of idea did they give you for a lead time?
