As I recall, OSHA gets involved in air quality stuff at indoor ranges. Have to have so many SCFM of air transfer as I recall. Sounds like some of these places are just looking to be shut down. BTW, on lead.... We have a local battery plant (Exide) that habitually poisons their employees with airborne (sorry I can't spell it any other way ) lead. That really isn't that much of a problem unless you are young and/or want to have kids. Lead does nasty things to DNA in sperm. Just thought you might need to take that into consideration.

Springer Precision Trigger job on XD-9 Tactical...
Marswolf replied to molonlabetn's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Yeah, generally a heavy trigger pull isn't a problem on a carry gun. With adrenalin flow, trigger pulls in the 50# range have been recorded. But it is really good to know exactly the break point for firing from the feel of the trigger. -

Eddie, you brought up a point that I'm curious about. While I'd like a more precise and repeatable trigger, I don't think I'd want to reduce the trigger pull on a carry weapon. It would be different for a target gun. Do you know what the range of trigger pull is with this conversion? -
Yeah, but cocaine is the same way.

Yeah, it's the other way around. http://www.straightshooters.com/documents/choosingascope.html

Dusty, you found an old source. Please use the address above for the current code. This changed six or seven years ago.

TFA Nashville Bulletin re: January '08 Meeting
Marswolf replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
Hasn't this "meeting" been done to death? Multiple times over? How about a meeting that doesn't require "John" to be be there. How about a group that actually does something? -
I've never quite understood why people think you must carry a 1911 cocked and locked, but a Glock (or other Glock-like weapon) is just fine without a safety.

If you had a proper scope on a pellet rifle, it's probably better than a standard gun scope. Pellet rifle scopes are far better than a rifle scope. There are some interesting physics involved in pellet rifles.

I have lots of knick-knacks. I'll sell you boxes of dusty Teddy bears for $10 per box plus shipping. BTW, "flash" is what they call the stuff like mirrors on the walls in trailers. Basically, junk that looks good to the young and foolish. Rather have USB floors and cheap mirrors on the walls than something that will hold up? You like "flash." Most interesting ad I ever saw for a trailer was one that said the home had "Wayne's coating."

Well, you have to wade through a lot of s.hit to get to the truth on Internet. But the truth is nowhere to be found in gun magazines.

James, you aren't putting us on are you? The cups are fine. Essentially the same as the variable volume measure that comes with most sets, but you really need to use a scale for reloading anything other than shotgun shells. I've never - ever - had primers go off when reloading. I've never had case bulge problems. I've never had case elongation be a problem, although I do have a case trimmer for when I need it. You are having a lot of strange problems for a new reloader. If you are having these problems, you need to get a Sierra, or other, reloading manual and/or get with someone who knows what they are doing. Reloading for plinking is not rocket science, although it can get very technical if you are working for the "perfect" sniper-type load.

DAMN! Someone else who has some sense.

That's me. Why buy an overpriced magazine that will not under any circumstances criticize their advertisers?

Indeed, welcome. I'm not far from you. That's a nice area up at Roan Mountain. Maybe we can get together sometime in Elizabethton for lunch or supper.

That may be a bit strong. Many a shooter has forgotten to take the safety off when the adrenalin started flowing when the SHTF. Many of us think you are a fool to have the safety on with a carry weapon. Condition 0 works just fine for a 1911 in a good holster.

A good question. I'm pretty utilitarian in my gun buying. I've always figured they were the same guns with some flash. I've known a lot of people who paid more for a special commemorative gun. I don't recall any of them making a killing as the prices for that model rose astronomically.

BTW Dusty, I see you are in my neck of the woods. You just move into Tennessee? If you are interested in a Tennessee Carry Permit, check out Unaka Rod and Gun Club. I think Phantom6 has already suggested Bob Camponovo for more intensive training. Last time I checked, the Unaka course was on $50 and all proceeds went to the club.

Dusty, you misquote the code. It says, "(a) It is an offense for a person to possess a firearm within the confines of a building open to the public where liquor, wine or other alcoholic beverages, as defined in § 57-3-101(a)(1)(A), or beer, as defined in § 57-6-102(1), are served for on premises consumption."

I'm wondering if any people said condition 1 when they really meant condition 0? Anyway, I carry either condition 2 (my carry guns are all SA/DA or DAO) or condition 0. That's why I like a hammer. I can can carry hammer down for safety but still fire with just a DA trigger pull if needed; but if things start looking strange, I can cock the hammer for a SA shot. I have to agree with Glock's philosophy that manual safeties don't belong on a duty/carry weapon. I just don't agree with them that you shouldn't be able to de-cock and re-cock the weapon.
