    Glock ownership???

I am shocked - truly shocked - that it was a Glock.
  2. Kel-Tecs are either reliable or not after about 50 rounds. If they are not...you send them back to Kel-Tec at their expense and get back one that is nicely tuned and very reliable. To me, size is important. My wife thinks so too. But back to handguns.... The P3AT will literally fit, with a holster, into the back pocket of your jeans. I think that's a significant consideration. But Bersas are good handguns too and may be easier to shoot. As sermon8r said, for a pocket/BUG great trigger pull and shooting pleasantness isn't that important.
  3. Sounds like you can legally pack in the restaurant unless you sit in the bar area.
  4. About the only bad thing I can say about the Rock Island is that it isn't exactly a "standard" 1911. Some of the pin holes are in a slightly different location than on the normal 1911s. The gun is good enough to not need any modifications, but if you want to accessorize with something like a new beaver tail, it won't fit without a little gunsmithing.
  5. I understand Glock will have a Glock standard rail for those who don't like the Picatinny. So Glock's big innovation is a 45 ACP with all the old safety problems but with a slightly smaller backstrap and a second small magazine release on the right. How will the other gun manufacturers ever catch up?
  6. It's going to take an AG ruling to get them to back off. I'm working on it before trying to get Ramsey or my Rep to ask for a ruling. Been going through all the AG gun rulings since 2000. I count 30 of them. We need to get our ducks in a row here rather than just contacting LE, who will just think we are nuts for telling them our interpretation of TCA. They don't know the law but think they do. It will take more than us as individuals to change their mind. Bristol recently decided they did not need to post their parks because of their interpretation of TCA. Are the LEOs going to listen to us or to the city manager? BTW, there is already a ruling that cities can post. So all we are likely to do is make them put the signs back up even if we win. What we need is a law that says they can not post in parks.
  7. I agree about the rail. When I want a light, I hold it in my hand. Got my tacky-light sitting here beside me now. I can see some potential for lasers but I had one and don't now. That may indicate my view. Back to the 21SF, the Picatinny rail doesn't seem too popular with the Glockies.
  8. Wonder why they didn't make changeable backstraps? That works well on the P2000 and S&W M&P.
  9. I just discovered this topic. I'll try to be nice. Another reason to not take training.............well, never mind. The ambidextrous mag release is one of the features I really like on my H&Ks. Not just that it's ambi as much as it being located where it is - in line with the bottom of the trigger guard. I am very right-handed. Yes I can shoot with my weak hand if I have to thanks to forcing myself to practice that way. And I'm really good at drinking beverages with my left hand, again thanks to many years of practice.... But I'm basically right-handed. I habitually use my right middle finger to drop the magazine on my H&Ks. Trigger finger stays in position and I still keep a grip on the handgun with the other fingers. The magazine drops easily into my waiting left hand and the filled magazine in that same hand grip gets slapped into the handgun. Release the slide. Ready to go. Easy and fast. The release is always where it can be easily found without having to either feel or look for it to depress a little button. You can concentrate on the replacement magazine - retrieving, orientation, placement and proper insertion. On the P7M8 you don't even have to think about releasing the slide. The cocking action automatically does that too. I've never hit the release by accident and I think I can say that I've been under a lot of stress in my years. I'll reserve judgment on the new Glock until I have a chance to play with one. Maybe they have fixed the unsafe design items that I object to? From what I'm reading, about all they did was slice a little off the backstrap while keeping the fat grip. That correct molonlabetn? My guess is that Glockies will swear it's the best thing since peanut butter. They would swear by $600 turds if they came with a Glock nameplate.
  10. You know, I've never shot a P11, so I can't compare them. Kel-Tec says the trigger pull is 9#. The P3AT has a long throw but pretty smooth pull. The pull weight is stated at 5#. Might be a bit more. If I find my trigger gauge, I'll check it out.
  11. I've played with the PF9 but haven't shot it. It does look good though. Like Macho, I carry the P3AT about everywhere these days.
  12. Hey, I like that!
  13. Just be sure you have leg and butt armor.
  14. Doesn't that get heavy?
  15. I saw this when it first hit the news some time back. I think this judge is a dipstick who needs to be removed from the bench.
  16. I have seen RIs that had a feed ramp misalignment that caused that. Basically, the bottom of the ramp was too high. It's fixable, but if the new gun has that problem, you might get the dealer to get it fixed for you under warranty. Just put in a magazine with a round in it and see how the alignment is for the ramp to the round. Harder to explain than to do. They turned out a batch of RIs like that about three years ago.
  17. I like those Rock Island's. Good gun at a reasonable price.
  18. If you aren't going to enforce a law, you shouldn't have it. I'm for the omnibus law reduction amendment. No law gets to stay on the books for more than ten years unless it's renewed by the original passing legislative body and the executive office (President, Governor, whatever) during that period. We have far too many laws. The important stuff would stay on the books.
  19. I'd sell them a Jack Kevorkian do-it-yourself suicide kit if they wanted it. But I probably wouldn't recommend it. I might try to suggest a better handgun than "the one the cops use." However, if that's what they want, the best advice I could give is to always use quality ammunition. That way, you might get to keep your hand.
  20. Hey, you old bigot , take a look at this: 20 Loopholes in the Senate Immigration Bill Might want to send a copy to Senator Graham.
  21. That list hasn't been updated since June 2004. We're supposed to be working on that project here....
  22. Fred isn't perfect either but he's far better than any other viable candidate running.
  23. Well, now you are contractually obligated.
  24. Yeah, pretty much a moron. Think his customer will come back to him for another gun? Only if the customer is a moron too. If asked my opinion about a gun before a buy, I'll give it but point out the good points as well as any bad ones. If they already have the gun, I just point out the good stuff unless it's a safety matter or reliability problem in a carry weapon. Even then, I'll try to tell them anything that might help. But if I'm not asked, I'll gladly use my right and ability to remain silent.
