I'm just in the "overweight" group at 26.6. I need to lose 11 pounds to get to normal. Actuarial charts say 30#. Screw them. I'm having a salad tonight too. With grilled chicken, Mandarin oranges, toasted almonds and Asian Sesame salad dressing. Total calories? About 410 and 22 grams of fat. Had fresh pesto on linguine for lunch (lots of olive oil and cheese) and pancakes with buckets of syrup for breakfast. So I guess this is actually a moderate calorie day for me. But my thermostat (metabolism) is always stuck on high. I actually go for tasty food. Smaller quantities are fine as long as there is great flavor. My downfall is snacks. I actually snack pretty much constantly. But if I don't do that I about go catatonic. Hmmm...I think I hear the call of a giant size Snicker bar.....

You know, that fly looks a lot like Jimmy Naifeh.

That explains a lot....

Love the name of the place in Jackson, "Gladiator's Combat Club". -
Yeah, it's amazing how hard not bending your elbow can be. Seriously. BTW, I found a Body Mass Index calculator at http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ if you are interested.

Randy Tyree was considered a joke when I arrived on the UT campus in 1967. I never could figure out how he was elected as Mayor unless his opponent was an even bigger joke. It happens. Hell, the guy was born in 1940. I wouldn't vote for a sheriff nine years older than I am. So, my vote would go to whoever was running against him.

South Carolina added a gun sales tax holiday. Someone call Naifeh and see if he will sponsor it in Tennessee.

I love educational topics.

Good grief, that idiot Randy Tyree is still around?

I was doing a little surfing and found out that this is not Heath Ledger's final movie performance. He was filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when he died. They modified the script and the movie will come out next year. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Imaginarium_of_Dr._Parnassus

Why do I have a feeling I'd be getting all sorts of phone calls if I got a free copy? -
I see virtually no fantasy movies. Well...I did see Sniper so I guess I've seen at least one.

One of our Shoney's just closed. I'm guessing that they couldn't make a profit with all of the super-eaters around here.

Well, it looks like ticket sales are through the roof. But I don't go to a lot of movies. I'll probably wait for the book.

My goodness. How did I miss this? Pretty much everything has been said. So I'll very quickly throw in my 2 cents. The 380 is a perfectly acceptable close range defense round. Yes cannons are better but they don't fit in your back pocket. I use FMJs in mine. Frangible or safety rounds are very bad choices. Have a nice day.

I think most people understand that the insurance isn't free, it's just included as part of their compensation package.

I'm not sure about that one. I know about a WWII guy who crashed his plane in Croatia and just came home. I see very few movies in the theater but did go to see We Were Soldiers. I already had the book and have since listened to tapes of the reading of the book several times. I like the picture a lot. I have quite a few props that were used in the movie. Slowly selling them off though. I have way too much clutter.

Like Black Hawk gear? That's why you need a local Wally-world. Oddly enough, Kroger has been having the best deals lately on groceries, especially their specials. BTW, you may notice that I'm pretty big on the POW/MIA situation. We've actually done much better on that front with Vietnam since they have some economic reasons to make us happy.

Bottom line is that Wal-mart provides products at a price people want to pay. They do that by keeping unions out and twisting the arm of suppliers to cut their profit to a minimum and then pass those savings on to their customers. Does it put mom & pops out of business? Yep. But the customers generally get the same items at a lower price. That's competition and one of the main principles this country was founded on. Municipalities stepping in to stifle competition by not allowing anyone to build a store reminds me of a local story. One little town decided they didn't want to allow beer sales. Guess they were afraid their citizens would sin. They only had one decent grocery store and it supplied much of the city taxes. The store requested that they be allowed to sell beer, as the profit on the place was pretty minimal without alcohol sales. The town said no. So the store closed and they built another store two or three miles away in the next little town. The store sells beer and the new town gets the taxes. Meantime, those in the original town just drove a little to buy the beer they would have bought more locally. The original town now allows beer sales, but they have nothing left but convenience stores. The duh factor is alive and well in east Tennessee. Sounds like it is in other places that chase away Wal-mart.

I agree. You really need to practice with what you carry. There is a lot of difference in recoil between a 40 S&W and 9mm. Since I sometimes carry a USP40 and sometimes one of a couple of 9mm, I generally practice with all three. The P3AT gets a few shots through it too, but mostly to check for reliability and clear out the dust bunnies.. Using the 9mm barrel might work if you are having trigger problems but dry firing (with a SnapCap) generally works for that as well.

Off-topic, but that's some nice banjo picking in the video fivestring63.
