:( I'm having bad thoughts (about selling something) LOCKED
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
Not quite there yet. If I do wish to get rid of it, I'll put it in the forums. I keep seesawing between selling and keeping. I suppose what I might do is go and put everything "CZ P-01" related on a table, take pictures of it, add it up, and post it on here. If I receive an interesting trade offer, or cash price, I might bite. I myself am one of you, but we'll see. -
I might sell my CZ P-01. There, I said it. I might sell it because it is sitting around not ever getting played with. To be fair, my Glock only ever gets carried, she never gets any real attention either. But I am interested in selling my P-01. If I decide to, it'll go up on these forums. You'll see it. But here would be the reasons why: The CZ is much more complex than the Glock The CZ is heavier than the Glock, and arguably less durable (alloy frame, hammer vs striker, you all have heard this one before) The CZ has a lower capacity than the Glock If the CZ could sell for what I have in it, I would like to reallocate those funds towards purchasing a house It would be really neat to find a Glock 26, thus consolidating fully to the 9mm Glock platform However, here would be the reasons not to sell it: The CZ feels so wonderful in my hand The CZ is somewhat hard to find, and I'm not sure I could ever replace it I am afraid that I might regret it I am afraid guys. But after you look at the holster, magazines, sights, grips, etc, I just don't think I am getting that much "use" out of how much I've paid for it. Perhaps the market is up enough right now that I could pretty much break even with what I had. Perhaps I could even make a buck or two, though that wouldn't really be my main intention. However, I will admit, if I could come out $100 ahead that would be enticing. Do you all feel that it is still a sellers market for such an item? I'm not talking about trying to get 200% out of everything, but if I could do 100%-110% what I have in it, that would be appealing. I need therapy input?

Someone I work with gets more frustrated with the fact that Fox News keeps covering Benghazi "so much". This same person thought it was simply a bomb that went off, nothing more. This shows how much he knew about it in the first place even though they are covering it "so much". But I think the point I am trying to make is it seems some people (fearfully too many people) get more frustrated with the fact that these scandals are being reported rather than the fact that they are happening. I think it falls between apathy and ignorance for a very large amount of people. It is so frustrating to me because I feel everyone should take the responsibility of becoming educated regarding our country and becoming involved in the process that our country is ran. You all know this.

I don't know specifically in this case, but most the time in these cases it is due to one state's requirements no meeting the requirements of the other state. For example, in this case, Pennsylvania may not require "enough" safety training in Tennessee's eyes. It could be other reasons I suppose, but I have a feeling it has something to do with Pennsylvania's requirements for a HCP not meeting Tennessee's guidelines enough.

Will be going to Savannah at some point in the coming weeks. I am curious about concealed carry there. My research suggests in many ways it is better than TN. "No Gun" signs have no force of the law, and they have "restaurant" carry just like TN (you can carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol as long as you do not have a drink). I have done what research I can, I am curious if there is anything else that I should know that maybe I did not find. My big question is whether I even want to carry, it is going to be so hot and humid there this time of year, but only I can answer that and I believe the answer to be yes. Anything I should know about Georgia or Savannah?

I didn't know you could watch the status of your HCP on the internet. -
+1 to Raven Concealment. If I remember this evening, I will post some photos of my setup.

Actually, there may be two sets of library lists. One that "grants you access" to a bigger library of books, and then the list that has libraries that provide you a "bigger and even more better" list. See if your library is available here: https://secure39.libraryreserve.com/reads.lib.overdrive.com/2167BA9F-2985-47AA-B953-60A00E69B70B/10/50/en/SignIn.htm?URL=MyAccount%2ehtm If all else fails, try typing your library card number into the form (without spaces I believe), and see if it works!
-
Go to one of them and try to get one? I don't know what different libraries require. If you have one in the same county as you, it may be worth a shot.
-
But that is where, I believe, libraries have different content. I found that through my local library, I have available many topsellers that haven't been out long in E-book and audiobook format. So you may find it useful to try getting a card at a different library, their selection may be better. Maybe anyways.
-
Steps: 1) Get some sort of E-reader device. I use (and fully suggest) the Kindle Paperwhite. You can also make it work simply by using one of the Kindle apps (Mac OS X, Windows, iOS, Android, etc). If you already have a different E-reader device, most of them will work, just not as streamlined because the Tennessee R.E.A.D.S. system integrates very well with Amazon. 2) Get a library card. It really needs to be one found here. 3) Sign in using your library card in the above link. I believe library availability varies, but for example my library lets me rent many of the Tom Clancy and Dean Koontz books. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out how exactly everything works. If you are interested in Audiobooks, there is the free Overdrive software to download to your computer/mobile device. I tested everything via my Kindle and my Wife's iPhone, it all seems to be very legitimate and worthwhile. Your results may very based upon your reading tastes and library selection. If you have any trouble, I'll more than happily point you in the right direction.

I ran across this on Amazon today. It has mostly 5 star reviews. Supposedly you can boil water in 30-45 minutes most of the time. Anyone ever try something like this? I'm thinking it would be nice to have for multiple reasons (power outage, camping, survival, etc). It'd be great for if you don't want a fire that draws attention. SunRocket

Yep, and since my bank supports PopMoney, it should be in my account tomorrow. $1 fee for any amount vs set percentages via Paypal...well...
-
I'll admit, I still use Paypal sometimes. However, due to multiple reasons (anti-gun, fees, etc), I've tried to steer clear of them. Because of this, I've given PopMoney two tries now, each for a transaction on TGO. I've only been on the receiving end of it, but so far so good. I think I have figured out the following regarding PopMoney: If your bank supports PopMoney, your money should be in your account in 2-3 days If your bank does not support PopMoney, expect your money in a week (PopMoney can transfer to any routing number) Some banks let you send money for free, others I believe charge a small $.99 fee. Your results may vary. Overall, it's been a positive experience for me. In my opinion, eventually you have to ignore the line somewhere. I'm sure if you really dig deep, you'll find that PopMoney and/or the banks that use it are somewhat anti-gun. However, if you use a bank at all, chances are they do not truly support you. I'm not sure how well PopMoney protects you as the seller/buyer, so perhaps just use it for transactions you can trust?

I'd say stick with what works, Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Each of those are made to last a very long time, and you can find aftermarket accessories all over the place for them.

Old Native American tribes in this area used to honor other tribes' by leaving a "payment" of weapons on the other tribes' land if they felt that they may be wrongfully encroaching upon their land. I'd say you're good to go;)

Almost a year ago when shopping I went into the Crown Dodge place in Cleveland. I had already found on their website a used Chevrolet Trailblazer they had for sale. I pulled into their lot, walked around a while, and didn't see anyone. I went inside, stood for a while, and everyone ignored my wife and myself. They salespeople were just talking between themselves. I said quite loudly that I would like to take a look at the Trailblazer they had for sale. The salesman starts off with "Do we even have a Trailblazer for sale?". I explained I had seen it on their website, and saw it across the parking lot when I pulled in. About that time a sales manager comes around the corner and proclaims "Yep, we have one, it's across the lot, take him out there right now to look at it!". He takes us around a bit. We leave. Never have I had the experience except for this time of driving to a car dealership and feeling like they really don't care anything about selling you a vehicle. It was very hot this day (100+). I guess the salesmen were just too hot to sale a car!

Also, if you look at the bottom right again, look for the guy in shorts and the white pullover with stripes (it has "CCM" on it). He is in the "photo" three times, as is the guy with "Boston 44" written on this shirt.

They've been doing stuff like this for concerts for a while now. However, I don't think that that is necessarily one photo taken by a single camera. I think they probably have a camera that essentially is on a rotating fixture, and it automatically takes lots of photos and stitches them together. For example, look at the bottom right, all the way, and then look up a hair at the sidewalk. There are several headless legs walking around.

For those that do not know, Pixelmator is an image editing program for Mac OS X. They recently updated to version 2.2. I purchased it and am loving going through the tutorials. Today I was going through their website, and found something that caught my attention: http://www.pixelmator.com/company/ Slide #3 It strikes me as odd for several reasons. 1) Most software companies are anti-gun 2) Their address is a UK address I don't know the meaning of the AR in the picture, but it strikes me as at least being pro-gun. Is it real? I cannot tell for sure, but it looks real to me. Just caught me off guard enough to want to pass it along.

utility service providers that suck and why
GlockSpock replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
Signed up for Charter 11 months ago. 6 months into it they go from $29.99 a month to $49.99 a month. Of course, this was the end of their promotional pricing. I sucked it up and kept it (internet). Few weeks later I got a letter saying my bill would go up $2 a month. What? Sucked it up. Probably 5 times during this period I called and complained, asking for better rates. Last week I got on their webchat, simply stated I was looking for a better rate, and low and behold, this guy says he can give me the internet for $39 a month! So I actually am pretty happy right now with Charter...hopefully they won't screw it up anytime soon. Verizon Wireless...yeah. About 3 weeks ago my phone charger broke (for a Samsung Alias 2). I was 2 weeks from being out of contract with them. I went in to tell them all I wanted to do was switch to their $35 prepaid plan and purchase a Samsung Intensity III at prepaid pricing. They couldn't (wouldn't) sell me anything. However, I needed a phone charger that day so the salesman convinced me to purchase a phone charger ($29.99-25% discount) and then bring it back when I got a new phone. I went for it because I didn't want to go all over town looking for Samsung's special charger. I didn't pay close enough attention to the receipt. I went Monday to take the charger back, roughly 2.5 weeks after the purchase, and that is when I found out Verizon has a 14 day return window for accessories. I assumed it'd be 30, but it wasn't. All in all, they lost me as a customer due to a lot of small things like that, and I switched to a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) called Ting. Verizon was never at all willing to work with me just a bit. I even told them in the store that they could keep me as a customer by selling me the prepaid phone and switch me two weeks early to the prepaid pricing. I had actually already paid the following month's bill at the time, so financially speaking I was already out of contract. All in all I suppose they aren't interested in penny pinchers like me, they would rather spend time finding another person to pay well over a couple hundred for several smartphones in their family. Kudos to Verizon for having that much market share (if you will) that they don't feel they need to give me any bargaining power at all. I just know of all the bills I paid/have paid, Verizon was always the one that frustrated me the most. -
Received my Ting phone last Saturday. Started the number port at that time. It took around 24 hours to complete to port. I have sent Ting support a few random questions, all of them have been answered in a very timely manner. So far, I'm very satisfied with them. I highly recommend Ting for anyone who might wish to save a few bucks on their phone, and doesn't need a lot of data. If I ever have a negative experience with them, I'll update here. Otherwise, 100% satisfaction as of right now.

Well...I think $400 might be alright. $350 would be a pretty good deal. Perhaps add $50 to each of those if you particularly like the gun.
-
I also very heavily considered paying out of pocket for a smartphone, and then paying $3 for 100MB of data. Then I could check my email wherever I was, and then use WiFi whenever I wanted. I decided to go with the cheapest possible solution for right now, and then maybe later adjust for something like that.
