I guess I'm an odd duck. I still like to use old tools on a daily basis. Blacksmithing, but also axe and a cross cut or bucking saw for cutting trees, broad axe andfoot aze for hewing logs, shingle froe for splitting shingles and shakes, and of course harnessing the horse for some plowing or logging. In World War Z, the 10/22 was standard issue for some of the military units. See the section about the gal who had to climb a tree when surrounded. She just sat up there and kept killing them until there weren't any more so could go on her way. Carrying lots of ammo would be much more important than the horsepower of the round. - OS Unless, like I brought up earlier, there are 28 days later Rage zombies. A slow shambling walker is easy to kill with a head shot, baseball bat, etc. But if I have someone or a large group of someones coming at a dead sprint, Id rather have something that punishes them, a hard hitter. Honestly, I wanted something along the lines of a hand forged Kabar, in application more than design. A fighting and utility knife. I used a traditional style tanto tip, not the Western tanto that is a bastard design that I dont really like, with a flat grind and convex edge for slicing and dicing. Paracord is easily field replaceable and provides good grip, and the blade is soft back tempered for a tough springy blade, with an extremely hard edge for excellent edge retention. I actually got time away from work to fire up the forge today. I made this from a Made in the USA 1095 Nicholson file. It has an 8.5" blade, flat ground with convex edge, 12.5" overall. I'm gonna paracord wrap the handle instead of wood on this one. It will shave hair easily, and would make a great camping/fighting style knife. Does anyone need anything more than a double barrel shotgun? Deceding what a law abiding citizen needs and is allowed to own is a liberal mindset. Timothy Mcveigh used fertilzer to kill several, yet I bought and spread a ton of it two weeks ago. Criminals will find a way, and its not for anyone se to restrict our rights or what we are allowed to buy because of what someone else may do. This is how the NFA got passed. First thoughts? Would be great for a police officer or protection specalist who needed to keep an AR close by, but wanted it to remain low profile. As far as a crimanal? Whats to keep him from throwing a pistol upper and a rifle lower in a gym bag? Covert, concealed, and two pins to make it complete. On another note, those officers better be glad he was untrained or didn't want to kill them. 37 rounds? Lookex and sounded like more than half those came down range before either officer returned fire. If that had been effective trained fire those would be two dead police officers. Go spend some time in San Diego and you will find out the email person was serious. I got pulled over 17 times in 6 months. All 17 were for smog checks, on a modified (turbo, injectors, exhaust, r compound tires, yada yada) 2004 WRX wagon with TN plates and I was an out of state resident due to military, which means I am not required to smog my vehicle or follow their smog laws. 17 times I explained this to the officer, and 14 of those still wrote me smog violation tickets in excess of $500 for car modifications. I went to court with all 14 tickets and all 14 ruled in my favor. I had the same cop do it 5 times. I was never once pulled over for speeding or anything else other than smog checks, so they had no reason to "know" my car. Yep sounds like they were serving and protecting to me. What that police officer failed to mention was that Socal cops get put on traffic duty, or did then. I don't kniw if thats shit duty or what, but they have a chip on their shoulder and a hard on for any car or truck that looks or sounds modified. Not to mention walking around drag strips, autocrosses, dyno days and car meets writing down makes, models and tag numbers in UNIFORM. Thank God the LEO's around here aren't like that.
