  1. I saw them at the 3 gun event in KY.  I havent shot any of their stuff yet but they seem like great folks.
  2. I have a older 12 ga version as well and it's a great shooter!
  3. The hogden data is always pretty close for me especially in larger bore stuff like 30-06 ;)
  4. I have one with 14" 35 Rem barrel and its a blast. Congrats
  5. Another for RCBS here.  I have had no issues with mine and my only complaint would be that it would be a bit nicer if I could change the shellholder a bit faster.
  6. Thats impressive.  I am thinking about building a varmint upper and would like to get this type of performance out of it.  Can you share some details on the specs?  Twist, barrel length etc.  One of my accuracy loads for 223 is nearly the same as the one you listed, 25.5 Varget behind a Sierra 69gr MK.  Nice shootin'!
  7. I have also done business with Daniel and while my bolt had the same issue I have to say he has been a 5 star guy all the way.  In fact I believe most everything in my Blackout build came from him with the exception of the barrel, handguard, and buffer.
  8.     Hey Gordon, have you ever tried a Little Crow trimmer?  They work great!  We use them for 223 and 330 blk
  9. I second the chamber gauge.  For like 20-25 bucks you have a great way to check your rounds every so often and be ensured they will work in your chamber. I also second the Lee factory crimp die.  I use this for all rifle loads now.     Hey, your buddy in the pic doesn't happen to be from California or frequent there does he?
  10. Well I think I will use some 2400 for the 357 based on advice from my father and a few others.  Seems like 13.5 to 15 grains is standard. I have a variety of projectiles from hornady around 157/8 grains as well as jacketed bullets.  Any advice on a round that will be decent performing, but not full potency hammer of god like power?
  11. I keep getting leading my from 9mm, the rest of the pistol boolits fling just fine.  May be worth the time if it keeps me from scouring my 16" barrel in 9mm
  12. I have had bullets move around in my revolvers to the point of not being able to rotate the cylinder.  So now I crimp, like said earlier, for them.  In my semis I have never had an issue but I load a bunch at once and feel like (a guess) it stores better long term, without a chance of getting disturbed.  I have definitely gotten better groups out of my bolt guns by fireforming and then using a neck sizer with no crimp during loading.    I use a Dillon progressive for most loading, but for my more precise stuff I use my rock chucker.  Seems like the answer lies in trying both in a particular gun and load to see what performs best.
  13. Excellent feedback! Thanks guys!  I have some trail boss and will give it a shot.  i know for sure just reducing loads is a dangerous and inconsistent proposition, much like 44 mag. I'll keep yall posted on my results.
  14. I know this is pandora's box of opinions, but I'd like to hear what everyone else is doing.  I typically crimp rounds for semi automatic and lever action (tube mag) , but I dont for single shot or bolt action.  For pistol I have started crimping my 44 mags loads as it helps with reducing the unburnt powder and increases consistency.  I also crimp my 38 wad cutter loads. The rest just have a light crimp to hold everything in place while firing and I get great results from my 9, 40, and 45 that way.   It seems everyone I ask or every place I read give a different version of when to crimp.  Help me clear this up will ya?
  15. I have wanted to try this for some time.  I have a favorite hunting load for my Sako Finnbear with 150 gr projectiles, but it's time to move my girl and son into large bore and so far I have done a good job of keeping them from flinching etc. I want something they won't get tired of practicing with so when the time comes they make the real shot count.  What are you all using?
  16.     I'd love to give it a whirl but I can't find any of the darn stuff.  Now I am wondering how 842 might work.  I also have H110, but I have a feeling it wont gel with subsonic too well.
  17. Well after a whole lot of toying around to find my "sweet load" using WC842 in my bolt action I have landed exactly in the same place I did with my AR.  24.6 grains of the stuff I have seem to yield the best accuracy, and most consistent speeds. Out of my 26" barreled Rem 700 I got a range of 3392 to 3401 fps.  The primers looked great, and I found no difference between BR and SR primers (not a shock).  They shot under an inch and I wasnt trying too hard.  I just finished doing brass prep on a stupid number of cases in prep for my prairie dog hunt in SD this Ausgust.  I am loading them up with 52gr hornadys and calling it good.  Now its time to get my dope down and go make red mist.
  18. Like many I refused to cast until maybe 6 months ago, that brought the cost down to the primer and powder.  However it did add labor....which I happen to enjoy.  It also brought independence which I really enjoy!  But of course if you factor in the equipment price the costs go up over the number of loads you roll up.  So....load more, save more I say.
  19. I was recently told that 1680 was the way to go on a 16" barrel w pistol port for supers and subs, can anyone back that up?  Using and adjustable block of course.
  20. Well I am glad I got into casting (pistol) but now I feel the need to start casting for everything.  I hope this powder coating of bullets works out so I can have full independence from the BS that seems to keep occurring in the firearms industry.  Time to search for more molds....and my blackout build is almost done ....grrrr
  21. Less lube...and back your dies out and start fresh.  Every now and then I jack up a few cases and I have done quite a bit of reloading.
  22. Off to the range for some final testing...wish me luck.  I also completed a lower build so I will be running it through some paces to ensure all is tip top.
