  1. Thanks to an ammo tip from a TGO'er this morning. I went into Academy in Smyrna before work. Although the ammo was gone by the time I arrived, I had to go see if the gun case was empty. They'd gotten a shipment in, so I browsed. BAM! S&W M&P! I've been paying attention to the hype about these and several of my friends have them and love them. I have a .45 and a 9mm, and was actually hoping it was a 9mm since I already have ammo, but it felt so sweet in my hands. I left empty handed and went to work......and thought about it.....and talked about it.....and 2 hours later asked my GRACIOUS boss if I could take lunch early. He asked why, and upon hearing the answer, said "Go get it, but I want to see it before I leave!" HA HA Yep, I have a good boss! I prayed that it wouldn't be gone in that short time and double checked before I paid my 10 bucks for B.G. check. The guy cracked up laughing and said that he knew I'd be back. Must have been the drool pool I left on the counter. Already broke it down, cleaned it out, and drooled some more. Now to find ammo, a holster, and get it dirty again! I'm sure a lot of you have these, but I am super excited. I've only had two everyday carry pieces, a Ruger P89 and my carry piece now, Ruger P90. So it's a little different to say the least.
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I stopped in around 9:30 to get .45 ammo but no target rounds were left. But I I went back to look at guns and today I'm the proud new owner of a Smith & Wesson M&P .40!! But, I have not one round of ammo for it ha ha. But its okay, I'll find some. Thanks to you I found one in stock, I appreciate it!
  3. Congratulations! Its a good feeling, even though it feels like it will take forever. As soon as you forget about it, it will be there ha ha
  4. 1Madss, my Dad had mentioned something about the problems they had after such and such year, probably exactly what you are talking about. Thanks for the info and love your rifle.
  5. Wow, thanks for all of the responses. I figured some of y'all owned/had owned them, but didn't know they were this popular. All in all, he's actually got me wanting one, and your responses make it more interesting. We may end up with one each. I'm curious to shoot one. I found one on Cabela's website(.357) and there is a Cabela's store in Missouri not too far from his house, so he may be getting one before I even see him.
  6. I wasn't planning on them being cheap since they aren't common like some rifles/calibers. Did you buy it new recently or have you had it for years?
  7. My Dad retired a couple of years ago. He had mentioned for a while his interest in getting an M14. He also talked about getting a Mini 14 ranch rifle (Ruger runs deep LOL). Since the shooting in CT has prices and stock in a whole other dimension, he now has been talking about a lever action .357 mag because he has a revolver in that caliber. Are the old Marlins still floating around often or should I look for new ones? Also, as far as new ones, any I should steer clear of? Seems like Henry makes or used to make them if I remember correctly. I'd like to be sneaky and buy him one as a present. Maybe then he won't need that blonde stock lever action Savage .308 I've been trying to get off of him for 20 years......well, probably not :)
  8. Its not very big size wise but I've found some deals, though deals are few and far between these days.
  9. I wonder if you could smell the burglars departure?    Ooooh, that's gonna leave a stain.[/quote] Lmao! I would say so :)
  10. Yeah, that's something I'd like to try out. Thanks for posting.
